I mean as long as the break’s the same length, it’s like whatever. The thing is in the northeast, the weather can still be pretty meh for those few weeks after Memorial Day, so why not wait until it’s pretty much guaranteed to be nice out.
The cops could easily deal with it if they wanted to. Imagine they were black and protesting on behalf of something worthwhile.

In MN we were out before Memorial Day and back around Labor Day. Not sure the time of break now days. Baseball started immediately after school finished and the seasons still seemed short.

Ok - how about we take down everyone’s information and every doctor and hospital in the country should refuse to treat any of you for the rest of your lives? Seems like a fair trade.

My tiny local school board has been a cluster for a couple years. Just a mirror of national grievance politics spread on nextdoor and Facebook. But with the added benefit of them being your neighbors
School starts tomorrow, everything masked, all the teachers vaxxed. So nothing like Georgia.
Awesome how it only takes a few people to break stuff, but it takes the whole community to put it back together.
School Board meeting in my Florida district was amazing.
They had all the local health officials out to explain that the Delta is more contagious than last years variant and that the current covid levels to start this school year are 10 times higher than last year.
They also explained that the schools were only 2/3rds full last year, but now completely full with the absence of online learning.
Then they had some local hospital officials explain that the hospitals are near capacity, under staffed, using out-patient staff to work inpatient covid work and that it’s just a huge disaster and they need the communities help in mitigating covid.
Then a bunch of citizens got a few minutes to share their thoughts. For the norms, it was a few students who didn’t want their unvaccinated siblings to die, concerned doctors/nurses, people whose family members died of covid, etc
They were outnumbered substantially by the crazies. The best was the guy who wanted to know why they didn’t ask the health officials how many people died from getting the vaccine. Another wanted the school board to know that masks mandates are unconstitutional. Another didn’t understand why everyone is worried about wearing masks for covid if its just a flu. And then a bunch of moms who were concerned that their children had become germaphobes and overly concerned with hygiene due to the environment at school with masks, when the moms just want them to be normal kids.
School board voted 4 to 1 against masks.
Last week (before school started) 71 employees of the school district tested positive.

My mom used to yell at me when I’d come home caked in dirt. No wonder I’m so screwed up. DAMN YOU MOM YOU SHOULD HAVE LET ME BE A NORMAL KID!
Well, our local representative in congress doxed her, so she had to leave her house for a week or something when they crazies showed up outside. Unfortunately, that guy survived after being in the covid ICU for a month.

Yep sounds about right.
We need to divide up the country. 250 years a solid run but we have run our course.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that happens in my lifetime, but think it would be the result of the federal government slowly falling apart more than any conscious decision to dissolve the republic.
A school district ~2.5 hours away wanted to hire me for an in-person training for a group of ~30+ unmasked staff. I don’t see how schools stay open given everyone’s determination to pozz before the semester begins.
