My sister is 37 and a new immigrant to the UK on an ancestry visa and got her AZ vaccine three weeks ago
Many travel companies were not set up to handle 18 months of lockdowns and are struggling so badly financially they canât afford to offer refunds or they will go bankrupt
Right, they have to not only be infallible about new diseases but also correctly predict how morons will act on their information. And the last time they moderated their mask guidance to anticipate the public response, it was a disaster.
So glad I donât work there, what a hopeless job.
This is why Brexit happened.
But also correctly anticipate what hypothetical morons will do with new information.
And so if the CDC says âvaccinated people probably wonât transmit the diseaseâ âwhich is almost certainly correct and something weâve been saying here for a yearâ that triggers a two-day meltdown because they should know that idiots will not understand them. I guess they should just say nothing? Lie?
Which should not have been hard, considering the countryâs track record during the pandemic. I mean, we all knew what would happen and we arenât experts.
Itâs like someone at the CDC saw the good data and said, âQUICK, HAND ME A MICROPHONE!â

Are you guys eating out to help out
The UKâs figures look completely out of whack - restaurants only fully opened up yesterday.
Are you my wife?
Highly unlikely thatâs true. Testing was still quite restricted in May.
That website is not reporting data that says what Nate is claiming. That tweet is a pile of fail.
Oh man, my dad used to yell at me if I unfastened my seatbelt in the driveway before we got parked in the garage. I actually did it the other day and I said out loud to nobody, âI donât know why in the hell I just did that.â
lol, amazing
MN was the same, I believe the state was going to open up at 70% vac but when the CDC stuff came out I think that all went bye bye
No company is set up to handle 18 months of lockdowns yet somehow their business model gets to demand money up front and then refuse to offer any sort of refund or date change because they donât want to? In this case the couple asked to postpone travel for a year, a reasonable request, and were told no. We can debate the wisdom of even attempting to plan a vacation ahead of time in the middle of a global pandemic, but the fact that you somehow have to pay more to have the right to cancel is BS. Hot take, people should be able to cancel almost any flights, hotels, and other reservations at the last minute for any reason they want, free of charge.
