I’d love to know exactly what the plan was that passed from the Trump Administration to Biden’s. Meantime, is it fair to think the CDC should at least have some guidelines for running a successful and fast vaccination effort? Just dumping vaccine somewhere in every state and expecting states to figure it out for themselves seems like a recipe for disaster, and not efficient from a national standpoint.
Can’t explain the science to these people. mRNA is great. No virus. Temporary instructions for your cells to make antigen. Immune system does the rest of the work.
Perfect for short term involvement in the body.
Morons.
Fuck you, Fox News

Edit: I’m breaking this link. They don’t deserve the clicks from people here seeing how shitty they are or the link from here. You can see how shitty they are from the URL.
I see they’re continuing they’re typically excellent reporting when it references a white woman with blonde hair:
“When I took her to the emergency room, she had her makeup on and false eyelashes on. I mean she wasn’t going to go not put together,” Hawley said.
And casually attributing liver failure to the vaccine while burying her father saying he knows this is a fluke occurrence.
Lots of things don’t make sense in that story. People don’t go from fine to “planning on liver transplant” in 4 days… at least in any disease that I can think of
Before covid they ran an article about a Whooping Cough outbreak where everyone was vaccinated - failing to emphasize that no one got very sick, as expected.
Gotta court those anti-vaxx eyeballs.
Took a whole bunch of tylenol maybe?
Apparently at some of the megasites here they are scheduling people for pfizer and then at the end of the day when they run out they’re giving JNJ jabs. One of my son’s friends was scheduled for late afternoon appointment (he’s got a heart condition) and he had to reschedule since he’s 17 (JNJ is only approved for 18+, pfizer for 16+).
One the one hand I’m kinda hoping that this happens to me and I can just get one and done, but on the other hand I kinda want the mRNA stuff so I can be like cyberpunk wetware hacker 5G
accidentally posted this in the Biden thread
Got the Moderna vaccine.
Shot 1 in the arm. Gotta wait 10 more mins to check for an allergic reaction.
Shot 2 in four weeks
Gotta say I’m a bit jealous of the (at this point, judging by the poll above) majority of people ITT who are apparently eligible right now.
I’m a simple man. I see someone getting vaccinated, I give a heart.
Congrats
Thanks man.
I was told that teachers get AstraZeneca but I suppose they just give whatever vaccine they have available at the time.
I feared that the wait would be very long. So I got there a half hour before my appointment. However, I was really surprised at how few people were waiting outside. Truth was that there were more people there to administer the vaccine and record data than there were people waiting for a shot. Took me 2-3 minutes to fill out the paperwork and I was in immediately after that. Didn’t see a single person go in the room before me.
Once I got my shot, I waited outside for 15 minutes to check for allergies and left. Didn’t see anybody go in after me while I was waiting either.
I don’t know why this was the case. The Czech Republic is literally the most COVID-infected country in the world right now. Maybe it was just this specific time (weekday mid-afternoon) that had few people. Perhaps less people are going than expected. I mean the supply can’t be that low, can it? I mean why have appointments every 15 minutes if you don’t have enough shots to fill them.
Same but it’s kind of a passive jealousy since I trust I won’t have to wait much longer to become eligible.
If this was all happening under a continued Trump administration I’d be busting my ass scamming my way to getting a shot ASAP.
I’m a little jealous of people who are eligible and getting shots. But I know a lot lot lot of people who aren’t eligible and are getting shots, which I’m definitely struggling with.
The “popular” place to go wait in line for extra doses in LA is Kedren Community Health Center in South Central. But that can involve 10 hours of waiting in line and my business is up and running enough that I can’t make that happen. Also, the idea of being one of the many suburban white people to go snag doses that are intended for a marginalized community does not sit well, although I understand the shots have to go to somebody.
I’ll praise how Vermont is handling things in this regard so far.
Stuff like this just doesn’t seem to be happening here.
EDIT: Although that may change, since today they opened appointments up to those with certain high risk medical conditions and explicitly state that no proof/doctor note is required.
I’ll remember Gobert for being an idiot that saved lives. Trump just for being an idiot.
How long is it likely to be until we have clear and consistent messaging about the ability of vaccines to prevent transmission of the virus? I am seeing a lot of seemingly reasonable people acting as if vaccines simply prevent serious infections, but who are confident that they don’t prevent/limit transmission. I appreciate that we don’t have reliable randomized trials to prove this yet, but everything I’ve seen points to informed people saying, “Yes probably the vaccines reduce asymptomatic infection transmission, and not just severely symptomatic cases.”
At some point, that message has to get out. If you’re trying to convince people to get vaccinated, it’s a huge problem to say, “Yes, go get vaccinated, but also you won’t be able to change much about your way of life because we’re not certain that it can limit transmission.” I realize this has already been said in this thread, but it’s popping up recently in FB groups in my area. (I know - delete Facebook)
There is nothing unethical about being in standby to get shots that would otherwise be discarded because end of the day no-shows, IMO.
