I donāt mean to be braggadocious, but coming into the office in the morning and not feeling intense hatred or angst is one of the most incredible emotions. Itās crazy how much my psyche changed, but it feels good to not worry as much anymore.

75 percent of my office has had both shots and 100 percent have had at least one. Part of that was me convincing the holdouts. Iām quite persuasive.

One of my sisters is currently eligible in Pennsylvania (Phase 1A) and the other is in 1B. I tried to convince them to get it but they canāt be budged off of the āvaccine might cause infertilityā thing no matter what I say. At least one will likely be mandated to get a vaccine to go OFB though due to her job responsibilities. But if not, itāll be hard to really feel any sympathy for them if they get it bad.
Theyāre normally diligent, responsible people who donāt buy into conspiracy bullshit and anti-vax propaganda. But misinformation is a powerful tool especially when it comes from a person who provides the illusion of authority.
My mother in NY just became eligible today. She seemed wishy-washy on getting it but her partner is pretty hardcore on getting the vaccine ASAP so Iām sure sheāll go as well. Given that her partner is a full-on racist Trump lover, I figured that heād be an anti-vaxxer but heās in line with all of you on COVID.

Stories like this are just making me even more fucking furious. I am probably months away from a vaccine and there are people out there declining one that is immediately available to them.

I want to believe thatās true but I just donāt. Even if Bidenās prediction of every adult by the end of May comes true thatās still 2.5 months away.
FWIW you donāt need to take me particularly seriously right now, Iām mostly just venting because Iām fucking sick of this shit.

One hour. I think it was 65 people with spouses. Came in at 3:15, three nurses and a pharmacist. Were giving shots at 3:30 and gone by 4:30. Everyone just had to fill out a form, get the shot, wait 15 minutes. They had three doses left open and were on the phone trying to get them to people as they were leaving. Pretty impressive operation.

Iām scheduled to get Pfizer on Saturday, they just moved to group 1C here which includes BMI>30, eating those doughnuts finally paid off

Nah. Theyāre not very politically active. Pretty anti-Trump but more center/center-left.
They have a friend whoās a nurse working with COVID patients in an ICU and she was the one who told them about the infertility thing. Despite my best efforts, apparently nurse = vaccinologist to them.
Iād love to know exactly what the plan was that passed from the Trump Administration to Bidenās. Meantime, is it fair to think the CDC should at least have some guidelines for running a successful and fast vaccination effort? Just dumping vaccine somewhere in every state and expecting states to figure it out for themselves seems like a recipe for disaster, and not efficient from a national standpoint.
Canāt explain the science to these people. mRNA is great. No virus. Temporary instructions for your cells to make antigen. Immune system does the rest of the work.
Perfect for short term involvement in the body.
