COVID-19: Chapter 6 - ThanksGRAVING

Yet another thing in our antiquated system that can be improved with technology. Virtual courts could very well be a thing. I get that a jury needs to have their attention focused on the case and that’s let’s likely remotely, but there has to be some fail safe to help with that

The had the sequence in? I’m guessing I’m thinking of the lag until they start doing human trials.

But yeah once they know the sequence and get the primers the molecular biology can go fast. The initial rna is made chemically.

It’s gonna be much worse. Tons of people vacation in Florida and they will become super spreaders in the rest of the country when they go back home.

Yeah, I got that. But what’s “overwhelmingly likely”? 90%, 95%, 99%?

A kids can’t get it
B kids can’t spread it
C I read that somewhere…

and again I’m being ironic

Understandable they did the trials on adults first so certain tone a few month lag for the kiddos. Getting the community incidence down is the best way to protect them aside from masking and social D until then.

99ish, yeah. Considering that there’s virtually no chance that I don’t get it if they get it first, shoring up that most obviously weak link is #1.

most common ways I’m seeing covid passed now is:

  1. family gatherings
  2. Teenager got it
  3. Being an utter fucking dumbass

note this ‘data’ is purely based off my biased recollection

And you are seeing the cases that make it you at the hospital, right?

Anyone going with “no idea” or is it more “save me from my own stupidity”

I see people who either are sick or people who figured out they can jump our outpatient testing line by coming to the ER

Wait, is he meeting up with that redhead he has mentioned before? I think it was a redhead, I skip a ton of this thread when it turns into school debate or some of the other insane tangents.

I keep on getting emails from VRBO encouraging me to plan a trip. Motherfuckers, I would LOVE to be planning a trip. A few days in Carpinteria or Idyllwild or Joshua Tree or anywhere would be fantastic BUT THERE IS STILL A GODDAMN PANDEMIC.

Joshua tree seems realistic depending on how far you are. Camping seems super safe. I’m like 1.5 hours away though

Just found out my dumbass friends had a poker game and pozzed themselves. They don’t invite me anymore because I get bored and play like a maniac and try to lose money to them. Not that I would have gone anyway.

Camping is super safe. You can all caps going to a bar or a restaurant or even drive thru or delivery, but c’mon, this is not a superspreader event:

I agree that camping seems safe, but my wife is not built for it. I could take one or both of the kids but that would mostly defeat the purpose. Usually this time of year we’d be finding a dog-friendly house in the mountains or near the beach for a few nights. But without the ability to explore the local area we’d mostly be sitting inside, which we can do here for free.

EDIT: but you guys have me rethinking camping. Even one night would do me a world of good. If my wife can’t handle it that’s her problem.

Dunno about renting a house. Still seems pretty safe. We’ve rented places in Big Bear and such and never once came into contact with people and that was before covid. And, hiking around Joshua Tree isn’t the same as hiking around Glendale, but maybe your wife doesn’t want to hike either and wants to look around the shops and stuff. Take the kids and dog though and maybe your wife will get jelly and come anyway.

Also, campervan bro?

eta: We always invite wife/mom, but she only comes on about a quarter of our camping trips. They’re all short trips so far.

eta: And you’re like 30 minutes away from camping, but dunno if all those roads are open. Kind of crazy that there may be literally no gap between fire and snow closures this year.

Were they wearing masks?

I haven’t followed closely, but didn’t they develop the vaccines because governments gave them shit loads of money up front?

I’m like a 15 minute drive from the lab in Winnipeg that developed an Ebola vaccine last year
