Well my boss’s boss’s boss came by the Covid tent to say hi and spread word of a vaccine next week or the week after. Now I’m chillin in the covid tent working up a 30 year year old for myocarditis or PE
Just put the data into ecxel and noticed that 29 November to December 6 is actually 8 days. I just included the first of those two Sundays and came to 299.28/100k in that week, based on a population of 21.48 million.
It`s 304.27 if you use the number for the second Sunday instead.
i don’t know man, faking COVID might be a good line to play if you are on elite team strike force
210,112 cases today would put the 7dma at 210k.
I have a feeling we go well over that and probably set a new deaths record today.
Emergency alert in California, no word on French Laundry reservations
As my number based on worldometers was cases per 100k per week and this is cases per 1M per day, Florida should be around 430 on the Johns Hopkins map, if my math works out.
This helped my dumb brain understand mRNA.

Mom says she got a negative result and I’m imploring her to get tested again. She was right in the time frame for high false negatives and it is pozzing people associated with her class left and right.
There is actually a planet money episode on that (isn`t there always) discussing potential production bottlenecks:
Let`s just say if Trump tries to squeeze Pfizer per the Defense Production Act, there are lots of ways to squeeze back.
Hot take: in the age of Big Data and surveillance capitalism it should be easy enough to determine who’s been naughty and who’s been nice in terms of taking precautions and treat them accordingly when they show up at the hospital.
(mostly joking)
Question on the mRNA, why was there a doctor on my TV saying they haven’t proven that the recently vaccinated can’t transmit the virus.
Is this a simple logic problem? If someone gets the vaccine, then their body uses the mRNA instructions to make the protein antigen, but in no way shape or form is any whole virus present in your body. This is a weakened live virus like back in the good old days or even a poorly inactivated virus (I believe what happened in an earlier polio vaccine batch in the fifties).
What am I missing?
… Yeah that’s not going to be much of a competition. The pharma bro’s can bid this into the sun if need be.
I routinely move expensive capital goods in the transportation market vs commodity freight like steel/lumber/etc. I always always win. Whatever they’re offering I’ll beat by enough to not make it close. Because my freight not moving is a much bigger deal than theirs is.
This is like that except 1000x as significant. A truckload of cheese curds is worth 40-50k max (and I’m intentionally shooting super high here). A truckload of vaccine is worth roughly one human life per hundred doses… and I bet you can put a lot of doses on one pallet.
Anyone who has a supply chain conflict with these vaccines is about to get waffle crushed. Definitely time to come up with a new way to package and ship cheese curds if there’s about to be a dry ice shortage.
I sent her this
She said her earliest exposure was Monday and she got tested Thursday… so, right in the sweet spot for COVID false negative. I told her to go again today and she said she will consider it.
The teacher’s entire family is pozzed. Husband, kids, parents, grandparents. I think it’s almost impossible for her symptoms to be coincidentally some other issue
If I understand this correctly, the phase-3 study only checked on whether the patients were diagnosed with Covid 19 in routine tests, so there is no way of knowing whether the mRNA vaccine enables your body to just answer fast enough to not make you sick enough to require being diagnosed, but not more. So it will not make you sick enough to show symptoms, but there is no way of knowing whether it suppresses the virus fast/ strongly enough to keep you from spreading it asymptomatically.
As a medical layman I think you could only rule that out if you PCR-tested every parcipant in the study every 5-7 days.
My God did they ever screw the pooch on the messaging around this stuff. What is the deal with the timing on this alert? Is this a new lockdown? Or are they reminding us about the lockdown that started Sunday night? Or perhaps the lockdown that began November 30? Or maybe one of the other dozen double secret probation lockdowns that have been enacted recently. And then yes add to this that the people setting the lockdowns don’t seem to be locking down.
On another note, a member of my family got diagnosed with Covid 19 last weekend.
It is my 82-year-old great aunt. She lives in a home for the elderly around 4-5 hours away from me, but as my parents (66 and 73) are her legal guardians, as she does not have any other relatives, they visit her every 6-8 weeks to take care of financial matters etc. Of course they visited her the weekend before she was diagnosed, but their tests were negative.
My great-aunt was diagnosed before showing symptoms, because someone else in her facility had tested positive and they tested everyone else there. Turns out she is one of the “lucky” few. She had no symptoms when she was tested, but developed a 100.5F fever yesterday. Hoping for the best.
