COVID-19: Chapter 6 - ThanksGRAVING

Not like half of them are in any danger of getting a woman pregnant anyway

It will take years before we truly understand the magnitude of the death toll this man is responsible for.

I learned we have a dashboard today. We got 45 covid patients confirmed. Our overcrowding score is 330. 180 is critically overcrowded. No idea how that’s calculated. Lots of vents available! Only 2 ICU beds left with 4 ICU holds in the ER

Continuing on with humanity sucks and people dont care. Turns out the guy at work who infected and quarantined a bunch of people was breaking isolation going around town shopping and going to bars and stuff. Cant even get people who have it to stop being assholes.

The trump years are very revealing. I mean ive never had much faith in society but this year is something.

The media and these laughably dumb institutions like IHME are just like every other institution in this shit hole of a country. Totally corrupt money grubbing scum and everyone has their jobs because of who they knew not because they have any degree of competence or integrity.

I mean think about it. Networking is literally openly taught in school in every profession. There is never a pretense of you succeed through intelligence and competence. It’s who you know and we are taught how critical it is to go try and form relationships with people around us who are or who might be influential. People literally even marry people in some cases for this reason. It’s just another structural mechanism to keep the rich rich and the poor poor.

In overpromise and underdeliver news we have:

Do you go outdoors for any kind of recreation, like walks/hikes? That helps me a lot, and it’s pretty safe, I think.

I would assume when you get dose A, they will give you an appointment essentially of where and when to show up for dose B which will be same maker.

The timing isn’t very open from my understanding. (ie they haven’t had time to test variability of the interval between doses so they will try to keep it as constant as possible).

The committee is waiting on this guy. How is he not fired (both literally and into the sun)

Losing whatever it is that works about my brain and ending up poor again is one of my bigger fears. Every time it doesn’t cooperate when I ask it for something it makes me feel like an even bigger imposter :joy:.

On a day that started out rainy (pro tip rainy AM, nice afternoon is a great day to go for no lines), the boys And I went to Six Flags Chicago. We went on a roller coaster that went upside down trying to get the perfect picture. So we went over and over and over with essentially no line. Guessing upwards of 10 rides in half an hour???

Anyhow, I had what I called roller coaster dementia for about a week. Scary shit.

(Some would I say I never recovered).

Not covid but covid-related.

At the risk of getting another “lolAfrica” from a deplorable…

More than 400,000 people a year die of the disease, and in Africa a child under five dies every two minutes.

“A lot more people will die in Africa this year from malaria than will die from Covid. I don’t mean twice as many, probably 10 times,” Hill said. The vaccine “is going to be available in very large amounts, it works pretty well. And it’s going to be very low priced.”

But they are going to die of starvation or some other intestinal disease any how. Malaria just eases their suffering.

This seems very surprising if true, but probably not true, certainly at the high end of that range.

A malaria vaccine would be an incredible accomplishment though.

Humidity is a known constraint on the spread of covid, so it could be true.

A malaria vaccine with a decent efficacy would be Nobel-prize material imo. My dad knew a guy who went to West Africa in the late 60s convinced he was going to find a cure lol, and the only real advance I know of is the recent genetic modification of mosquitos.

Google. It’s your friend.

Of course no idea how good covid death reporting is in Africa.

Ah. Google, it seems, is a fair-weather friend.

There is this.

Regardless 400,000 is a huge number.

On a related note we see a lot of “worst pandemic since 1918” and HIV says hold my beer.
