COVID-19: Chapter 6 - ThanksGRAVING

A take on a recent Chapo was Fauci should have resigned when it became clear he had fed the public blatant misinformation about masks for the first critical months about the pandemic, and that a common thread in our politics is this insane narcissism from basically everyone in politics.

I completely agree. Have some dignity and gtfo when you fuck up that bad.

Gotta love the Nucks

Have we heard anything on how states/pharmacies/vaccination centers plan to track which vaccine someone gets. Obviously lol at anything being done well in USA#172, but that will be a pretty important process to get right I would think. If 3 or 4 vaccine candidates get approved, there’s going to have to be some way to know which one a given individual needs to get for their second dose.

Just tell them innocent people are never on trial.

People said masks weren’t necessary because there were not enough for healthcare workers, who knew they were effective.

If we wanted to kill a few hundred more doctors and nurses, we could have created a panic on masks in spring.

Regardless of whether it was the right move or not, it’s wild that Fauci still has his job. Not only is he still in his job, he’s idolized. He’s Neville Chamberlain.

Terrible take. At some point if you expect people to trust institutions those same institutions need to trust people.

But the same thing happened in every Western country. People still trust the NHS. Canadians still trust their system. The problem in America is a partisan political issue.

Every western countries govt or health department told their citizens mask were not effective? That’s wild and makes me hate civilization even more.

I’m not sure I believe other countries trust their institutions anyways. They may trust them more than the Americans trust their own institutions but my read is institution trust is eroding world wide on average.

The WHO made such public and at that point if you remember, people followed what they said.

Yeah I mean we’re living through one of the worst events in American history, especially for civilians. Something like 40% of the country thinks it’s a joke and another 40% is just like “Ehhh whatever, wear a mask and keep on living.” It’s unreal.

I imagine that people’s views will change somewhat after the winter, but at this point I’m just not sure. I feel like that 80% I mentioned would only adjust their feelings if a loved one died or they themselves were hospitalized. Pew says 54% of Americans know someone who’s been hospitalized or died from COVID already and public attitude is still awful.

Yup nailed it. @BestOf in case nobody has yet. My friend’s Dad could have come to Thanksgiving at my friend’s house, outdoors distanced with propane heaters. Would have been my friend, his wife and daughter, and his dad. My friend was going to prepare the whole meal and buy the heater. It was 60 degrees out.

His Dad passed and chose to go to a large indoor gathering with his brother, my friend’s uncle.

My friend told me he’ll never be able to look at his father the same way after this.

Meanwhile my dad won’t quit going to his bowling league with 50 people indoors and 25% mask compliance until the state shuts it down, despite my mother being in poor health. They’re already violating the mask rules, so it’s even worse.

Like putting that risk on my mom too, how do I ever forget he did that? I never will. Plus I’m mad at him for increasing the chances I lose him unnecessarily so he can bowl. He has a fire pit and a screened in porch with a space heater. He could socialize safely. But nope gotta keep on living bowling.

A lot of us are reckoning with the reality we never knew: nobody cares about anybody. I’ve reached out to aunts, uncles and cousins to check in and they were basically shocked. One of my cousins I’m closest with didn’t even respond.

I haven’t even tried to process all of that cognitively. We live in a selfish cesspool of a society. When you say people would rather have a third TV or an iPhone than see their neighbors get healthcare, I think it’s worse. I think half the country would light their money on fire before they’d see it taxed and used to help other people get healthcare.

On the other hand, my friend and his wife and daughter are becoming like family to me, so at least there’s that.

There are people who I think I will forever see with a huge “I DON’T CARE ABOUT WHETHER OTHERS LIVE OR DIE,” tattooed on their forehead. How am I supposed to pretend I don’t remember this?

As George Carlin said, we have almost an entire generation who’s ethos is, “Gimmie it, it’s mine!”

This happened to me for about two weeks back in the late summer. My standard 3bet size is 3.5x+1 in position and 4.5x+1 out. I couldn’t do the math in my head. Normally it would take like a second or less. I found myself staring at the screen and guesstimating. It was terrifying.

I assume it was stress, because it subsided after a week or two. There were other similar issues, lots of typos, extreme fatigue. But that one really stood out.

Hang in there! Try to take some time to completely unplug and relax, do something for yourself - could be taking a walk somewhere isolated so you feel safe, ordering something in your next grocery order that’s a treat, watching a favorite movie, whatever you will enjoy for a little while.

Im for sure getting dumber but i think its just age… or 5G or whatever the Russians put in the water.

Dr. Chris Murray, IHME, on CNN tonight.

“We think they’ll go up toward 3,000 deaths a day in January.”

Lol GJGE dumbass. This motherfucker is one of the most widely regarded experts in modeling this pandemic.

Like how stupid can everyone be? We had 2,857 deaths yesterday. We’re already “up toward 3,000.” Get the fuck out.

I’m supposed to believe Chris Murray, Anderson Cooper, Sanjay Gupta, and everyone working behind the scenes are that fucking stupid? Come on. Or nobody wants to call him out? This shit is going to turn me into a conspiracy theorist.

Like this clown is probably making 250K a year or more (their average scientist makes like 120K), and any one of us can look at the graph so far, squint and be like “lol no.”

What the fuck is this shit??? Fire IHME into the sun.

The Qfolk are pushing the idea the vaccine is a government plot to sterilize women.

Just speculating, but:

  • Older folks have on average worse outcomes from Covid, so when weighing the risk of the disease and the risk of a vaccine, they weigh the risk of the disease more heavily. Younger folks think they are more likely to only get a mild case of the 'Rona, so the potential risk of a vaccine weighs more heavily.

  • I think older folks are more likely to just listen to doctors when it comes to vaccines. They got 'em as kids because the doctors told their parents to give them to them. They got them in the military because the military told them they had to have them. They got their kids vaccinated because the pediatrician said so. These young punks today, though, they want to " do their own research" and end up falling down the anti-vax rabbit hole.
