COVID-19: Chapter 6 - ThanksGRAVING

New Iowa mitigation efforts seem about as good as we could hope for. Just 8 months too late 🤷

I’m not getting within slapping distance of any of these fucks. But I wouldn’t mind holding the slap until we get the vaxx, and cashing it in while waiting in line. Slapsvaxxing.

Of course that’s not showing exponential growth in IFR, it’s showing the exponential growth in cases we’re missing when we hit testing capacity which then causes exponential growth in CFR.

LA County says hi. I think when first implemented it helps. But at some point “lockdown fatigue” sets in and people just say fuck it. We’ve never been anything other than the most restricted tier and things are just getting worse here.

RE: the fatigue thing - I get it. This sucks. I’m not quite as strict as I was in April, which makes no rational sense at all. I should be stricter now than ever before. But at some point wiping down groceries just didn’t sound that useful anymore, and it’s a PITA.

I walked by a 1000 square foot gym with 20+ people all working on without mask on a bit ago. Reported them to the hotline. Just the absolute worst people. Cactus may have been one of them.

Scott Atlas is literally everyone well educated moron I’ve come across in my work career. They get so much freaking credibility based on degree and title but they don’t know shit and they don’t even realize that they don’t know shit. As a BS microbiologist in a field now overrun with PhD ChemEs I live this all time.

Some of the smartest and some of the dumbest people have PhD

Turns out 2019 was the last thanksgiving for your pony. Are you sure you didn’t ride in on a turkey?

Yes I know yours had an added comment but I have to use this picture I found. Too perfect.

You’re not sheltered from criminal liability though…

Testing queues across Adelaide yesterday and today in response to the 23-case cluster.

There were 5,300 tests conducted yesterday, a state record. Most of these people are just getting tested as a precaution because it’s possible they had some contact with one of the cases.

I think what happened to Melbourne (100+ day lockdown) is a big driving force here. We don’t want that to happen to us. Also what’s going on in the US and Europe is relevant, of course.

Holy shit look at all the smart and thoughtful people taking it seriously. What a spectacle to behold.
