COVID-19: Chapter 6 - ThanksGRAVING

oh yeah that rational response where they withheld info about the virus, withheld proper PPE and the optho doc somehow got covid and just happened to die. Rational… right.

this even with the reduced mortality rates?

I know all about argument from incredulity you pompous ass. It was in like the first sentence of my post. Find someplace else to dump your empty platitudes

Why do you think it would take many successful mutations?

what are you trying to say with this? Did china not withhold info? Did 6 wuhan doctors who just happened to be whistleblowers not die?

Why in the world do you just swallow obvious chinese lies?

Because you evolution usually occurs with small gradual variations, not big leaps. It’s obviously in a deadly virus’s best interest to be asymptomatic for long periods. I’d love to know how long the SARs of 2003 was asymptomatic. If it was near 2 weeks, I’m proven wrong immediately

It’s called Covid 19 because discovered in 2019 (12/31/19 or 31/12/19).

Geonome was provided by the Chinese by, checks date, 11 January 2020 - that’s some witholding info

What would be the Chinese motive for lying?

Are you serious?

Most obviously, there’s a lot more information out there that’s super important than the damn genome. Like wow, they released the genome in January, that totally means their blatant information suppression about the spread is a-ok.

Just stop, you have no idea what you’re talking about here.

Another thing, the international community has been asking China to shut down their wet markets for years because everyone knows they’re ticking time bombs, and China has refused. Even after SARS. Their government is 100% ready to sacrifice lives for the sake of the economy.

No but I’ve got my own personal hand sanitizer, and most of the table does too. I don’t touch my eyes without sanitizing and my nose and mouth are under the mask. When I leave I’ll wipe down my phone and wash my face and hands with sanitizer, and when I get home I wipe down everything I took with me, throw my clothes in a separate laundry and shower right away.

In this example, you’re the person swallowing the propaganda about gun fairs whole.

I’d be fine with it for this. I realize I’m probably in the minority on that, though. Also, I’m in a position where I can much more easily handle a lockdown than most. That’s my privilege, I guess.

I can see that position. What frustrates me is the people who don’t even acknowledge that’s what China did.

It will probably be what it takes short of a USA vaccine, as let’s face it, you ain’t taking a Chinese or Russian vaccine, but I’d be up for that too.

OG SARS had an incubation period of 2-7 days. It’s also important to note that there are probably a ton of different SARS strains in the wild that haven’t made the jump from their host species to humans and there isn’t necessarily a direct evolutionary chain from SARS-CoV-1 to SARS-CoV-2.

We are public health scientists who have closely followed the emergence of 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and are deeply concerned about its impact on global health and wellbeing. We have watched as the scientists, public health professionals, and medical professionals of China, in particular, have worked diligently and effectively to rapidly identify the pathogen behind this outbreak, put in place significant measures to reduce its impact, and share their results transparently with the global health community. This effort has been remarkable.

We sign this statement in solidarity with all scientists and health professionals in China who continue to save lives and protect global health during the challenge of the COVID-19 outbreak. We are all in this together, with our Chinese counterparts in the forefront, against this new viral threat.

The rapid, open, and transparent sharing of data on this outbreak is now being threatened by rumours and misinformation around its origins. We stand together to strongly condemn conspiracy theories suggesting that COVID-19 does not have a natural origin. Scientists from multiple countries have published and analysed genomes of the causative agent, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2),

and they overwhelmingly conclude that this coronavirus originated in wildlife

Or, there’s Cactus’ view

The COVID virus has already mutated a number of times. My understanding is that there are some strains of COVID-19 around which are significantly more lethal than what can be traced directly back to Wuhan.
