Sure our county testing dashboard has been wonky lately but why not open for business anyway?
Czech Republic keeps getting worse. Now it’s 701 positive cases before dinner. Should pretty easily push near 1300 by the morning.
I guess the lone positive is that they are (finally) processing more tests. Makes me wonder why they opted not to use this extra capacity earlier. With wider testing, we could have had a better hold on it. Makes me wonder if they’ve been holding it back intentionally.

If we shut down international travel, implemented strict testing and quarantine policies, and did a national shutdown for three weeks, this would have been handled.

I’m not so sure we’re trapped in a Pandemic Spiral so much as a Stupidity Spiral.
I just got invited to a home game: 7 handed, masks required, held in an area that should have decent ventilation. My hourly would probably be $300+. Fuuuuuuuuuuck.
I dunno if I can turn this down. It also would get me into sort of a next level of private games I haven’t been in before.
What do you guys think? I’m not sure yet if it’s a one off or weekly/monthly.

Poker even with masks is kind of an all or nothing proposition imo. If anyone you are playing with has it you will get pozzed. If not you won’t. I’m not sure masks or any level of precaution is going to change that when you are breathing the same air and handling the same chips/cards for hours.
If you’re making $300/hr from them why do they ask you back?

Some of them actually think I’m a losing player, I give action, I’m friendly and talkative, and they enjoy my company. This lineup is better than any in the past, so I haven’t made that much in the past.
They don’t officially know I’m a pro. One or two have needled me in ways that make me think they know, but a few think I’m a whale on a heater.
I’m not so sure with me wearing a kn95 and everyone else in at least some level of masks. I mean, if you’re right shouldn’t every medical worker in America have it by now?
I would bring sanitizer and not touch my face without sanitizing, so I’m not too worried about smear transmission.
Obviously I know the risk is an order of magnitude above what I’ve tolerated so far, maybe 100x, but I don’t think it’s a given to get pozzed if anyone has it.
If people aren’t following the mask rule and keeping masks up over their nose I wouldn’t go back obviously.
Just bring a scuba tank and breathe through that. Your hourly should easily cover the rental costs.

Getting out and into company (and off this damn site for a few hours) will have huge benefits too.

I’m facing a similar dilemma. Guy has been running the game for several weeks now and no one has gotten sick. Tons of action, bad players.

I don’t remember, are you high risk? Hate to say it, but if I wasn’t so compromised I’d do it. Hard to pass up getting your foot in the door.

You’ve spent 6 months been the most cautious person on this forum and now you are going to go play poker when our cases are absolutely insane. You do you, but if you are not hurting financially then why? Seems like a lapse in judgement from my point of view.
