COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

Id rather not. We were doing good before but think school being back will hurt pretty bad.

The Post shows some of the big schools athletic department lose money. Ill look for the one link that broke down just football later.

Really though they should just take sports out of school…the amount of money paid in athletic fees would shock some students.

There were not any power 5 or even fbs schools when I looked.

Athletic departments purposely structure their budgets to look like they’re losing money, that is different than football teams

Holy shitballs! Czech Republic up to 656 new cases by 6 PM.

The previous one-day record was 796. Would be unsurprising to see the total number push 1000 for today.

Mind you this is after the government stated that they would test less often.

Clear as day that schools have had an enormous impact on numbers and that it’s only going to get worse. They’ve been in for a week as of today and things are already out of control. One of my private students said that his brother now has covid. Asked him if he had any contact with him over the last few weeks and he said he didn’t (his brother is older and lives alone).

Also one of my classes is in Italy (rich kids) and I’m sure they’ll come back next week with something to bring to the rest of the school.

I just assume most places assumedly use the ‘lottery for education’ scam. Sure the money for the lottery goes to education, but the general state budget is adjusted down on education so that it gets the same money if the lottery didn’t exist. Replace education with whatever pet thing you like, and the state with the college.

Also forever lols at PA, can’t even run that scam, they do it for ‘seniors’ instead because they are overrun with boomers who care more about themselves than kids.

omg playing poker outside at oceans sounds horrible. you’re playing on the side of the freeway! i assume they’re playing on the other side but i gotta check this shit show out next time im in the area. how are you supposed to smoke weed in your car every 2 hours if you’re parked right next to your table? so weird.

yeah, I haven’t been by, either. Living up here, it’s really easy to isolate, and really tough to go back to NOT isolating, lol.

All the press releases say it’s a “5000 square foot facility”–could that even fit in the existing lot? Sounds to me like they might have figured a way to use the old show palace lot maybe?

Alright. I’ll never find the link with all the virus costing them money getting in the way. There were some big schools on the list though if I’m remembering right.

If not you still have overall sports at most schools costing students a lot of money.

You press a button and get a billion dollars but everyone planning to vote for trump that doesnt have kids under 18 dies, do you press it?

Button doesnt go around or anything it’s a one time deal.

Not gonna lie I’d press it. Does that make me Hitler?

Why would the kid need a test when the result ain’t gonna be back for 2 weeks - by which time the kids already transmitted at less than 50% of an adult? - what’s the point of the test for the kid?

Stalin.

I mean we had 250,000 people who have a higher probability than most of already being pozzed up heading to a small town to get wasted and fuck. Unless somehow the virus just decided it doesn’t like bike rallies there is zero chance a ton of people didn’t get infected. Add in all of their infection trees to infinity and the cost of that event is way higher than 12B or whatever.

As always LOL Nate Silver any time he tries to do any actual analysis. The study may suck but casting doubt on the enormous impact of an event like that is some brutally terrible twittering.

Yeah Nate’s comment seems dumb. It seems like he’s complaining that the rates are high because Sturgis people brought the virus back to virgin territory. Well, yeah.

There’s definitely overlap with schools opening, so the Sturgis effect isn’t the only effect. Many of the places showing clear Sturgis effect are also places that did really stupid things with school. What could be happening here is some randy people saying, ‘see, it’s not the schools, it’s those bikers!’ It’s really those bikers and the schools but good luck getting that message through right now. We’re going to have to wait weeks for that to happen and by then a ton of people will blame whatever happens on Labor Day weekend.

Kills my dad who I love despite him being a dumbass sometimes so nah.

I’ll press it, with a couple of changes: I am also killed, and distribute the billion dollars to the remaining residents of the country.
