COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

In many places, I think your second bullet at the bottom applies. In others, I think it is a lot messier. All positives and results could be on a lag everywhere, but some places might be much more sloppy in how they drop those results than others. Some places definitely appear to be doing your bullet one at the bottom.

I know we had a debate a few weeks ago on when we’d cross 2000 daily deaths. Today was the day I called, and I think most seemed to agree it would be early August…

First time since early April that Georgia is reporting over 100 deaths.

It also looks like an all time high for them as well.

Ohio is FURIOUS they won’t get their precious college football.

None of them give a flying fuck about people dying, going broke, etc., of course. Confirms rule #1 of being a Republican, under no circumstances do you care about anything bad unless and until it personally hits you, even if it’s something as stupid and meaningless as college football.

Huh. He got bad info from the “White House” and gov Abbott said small gatherings would be Ok. 14 sick. 1 dead. 1 in icu. Took him a month to recover.

That’s Ok, Harbaugh published something about how good a job Meeshigan has done and why should it be punished because of other places.

What a moron.

The President and the White House are so not worried they get tested every day.

And make people sign waivers at rallies.

The football players at Ohio State submitted a letter recently saying they’re A-OK with the safety procedures being used.

gone to sprouts to specifically pick a fight you say? starbucks karen is back and apparently never going away unless its to prison

Earlier Thursday, the mother of three says she went for a job interview on the promise she didn’t have to wear a mask. But when she got to the lobby, a late-arriving interviewer balked at her face not being covered and told her to wait outside. So Gilles left.

Gilles also videotaped a confrontation Thursday with a Sprouts Farmers Market manager in Clairemont who wouldn’t let her enter without a mask.

oh just your average thursday

I’ve been working remotely with a Swedish guy whose whole family caught covid back in May. He said everyone got sick but not enough to go to the hospital. He’s recovered now but 2 months later he still can’t run a 10k, something he used to do all the time before covid.

This guy looks about 35 and in really good shape, and he wasn’t all that sick. Scary that we really have no idea what this does to people who need 100% of their heart and lung capacity for athletics or athletic hobbies.

No I would assume he’s too smart to publicly thumb his nose at the local authorities.

We’re the crazy ones.

Governments can legislate all they want, but prohibiting stuff with eager buyers and sellers is super hard, says Jeffrey Miron, an economist at Harvard University who has spent three decades studying prohibitions. Miron, who these days is legally working out in his basement, says there’s a simple lesson that emerges from his studies: “Prohibitions don’t eliminate things. They drive them underground.” And that comes with a whole host of unintended consequences.

When it comes to gyms in the COVID-19 era, it means potentially creating fitness environments that are even more likely to spread the virus than if they were legal and regulated. “When you drive something underground, your ability to regulate it goes away,” Miron says.

I can’t believe this is a thing. To purposefully go to a store with a bullshit ‘medical exemption’ to record yourself getting refused service.

I mean, I believe it. It’s just dumbfounding that it’s a thing. Can’t believe he didn’t tell her that he didn’t say “Being an idiot and a asshole does not justify a medical exemption. Fuck you, get off our property.”

ETA: I really hope covid slows down and things get better, but I also really hope that these assholes catch a middling case of it before that happens. I don’t want them to die, but I’d like them to be reminded of how stupid they were every time they go up stairs and have to use an inhaler.

So, small sidebar here, if you’re going to be back to regular posting, why don’t you just have your main account unbanned and run with that?

That would certainly be the sensible thing to do.

I feel like I post a little less this way though.

Also I need to stop posting again. Which I will do after this. Until I get drunk again.

You make us feel like a drunk booty call that can’t even hide your self hating shame and disgust in the morning after coming over.

Not that we really mind but ya know.
