COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

Eh him saying schools can’t re-open would be screaming into the void so trying to push for safety measures and testing is the best he can do?

I’m on team Fauci should resign and join Biden and say Trump is murdering Americans but I can understand the idea of him sticking around and doing his best to influence policy any way he can, and if thats what he’s doing this is probably his best play with schools. But he also does give cover for them to open schools so meh

He says the default position should be to reopen schools. Then for reasons he cites the nutritional needs of students and parents need to have the kids gone during work hours so that they can work.

Isn’t that pretty damn close to the default right winger position?

So if a good vaccine came out in USA there is zero chance, even in certain states, that governments would mandate it be taken prior to being allowed to return to workplaces/send kids to school etc? In Australia I fully expect the government to force people to take it or rather wave a big stick at those who don’t.

250,000?! As in “two hundred fifty thousand”? In South Dakota?

The population of the state is less than 900,000.

There would absolutely be COVID vaccine mandates in many states in the US, especially with regard to schools.

That is less than normal.

That’s actually low, they typically draw half a million.

Yeah, I just looked it up. Apparently they had over 700,000 in 2015? That’s insane.

I know several people that bartend out there each year. I haven’t talked to them this year. An artist burlesque dancer girl I know just sold different styled nipple pasties there for at least a few years and made a killing. I’ve never gone but from what I’ve heard it’s jam packed for miles and miles.

I knew a couple cocktail waitresses out in Deadwood, SD that would sublet out their apartment for the biker week. That plus the tips they made was more than half their annual income.

They’re very vague with this, I couldn’t find much and I think they’re probably just talking about G614. Articles said the coronavirus previously arrived in Vietnam in late January, which puts it before the February appearance of G614 in Italy.

My family took a road trip to South Dakota when I was a kid. Happened to be during the Sturgis bike rally. Bikers everywhere. Everywhere. And we weren’t in Sturgis. Lots of them were just surburbanites, too, not the stereotypical bikers.

Dunno if this is the rule or the exception, but there’s a stereotype that the bikes get to the edge of Sturgis on trailers and then people drive them into town as if they are bikers.

Biden wins election and companies move overseas! Need to elect Ivanka in 2024 to bring back the jobs!!!

I think 15-20% is a bit high. It’s probably 8-10%.

But herd immunity is like 60-70%.

And it goes beyond “low hanging fruit” as even people doing the right stuff are exposed to family or friends who aren’t or at work or school, etc.

?

My bad, 10-15x not 100x

Parents still both tested positive, for my dad going on 30 days with a positive result. He’s still weak and coughing a lot, but otherwise trending upwards

My mom, who tested positive, is required to go back to teaching because the requirements to return are no temp for 1 day and no worsening symptoms.

She’s required to go back to teaching while still testing positive? Where the fuck is this?

I could see that. I guess if someone wants to be a part of the fun, but riding a motorcycle across the country is a bit much, that would the be way to go.
