COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

I think I successfully moved all of the disgusting posts on dining out that don’t mention cheese biscuits even once

Sushi is specialty food and doesn’t fit the classification of “corporate food thrown frozen in a microwave” so I agree. I have never made sushi at home and doubt I ever will. The difficulty and time needed to make it well wouldn’t be well spent at home unless it was just a fun project

Finding the best fish seems like the most daunting task for a novice to me. Counterpoint: I have eaten a ton of sushi and never tried for this reason so maybe I am just lazy.

The fish selection, knife skills, making the rice correctly, the assembly itself, and then putting it all together and not wasting any (expensive) ingredients that have to be used that day—there’s a lot going into it

I knew a guy who got bit on his penis by a black widow using a port on a construction site.

But taking a leak, come on. It’s unhealthy to hold it.

What is “A sentence I didn’t need to read”?

Let’s go over to Potent Potables for $800, Alex.

Things are picking up. Czech Republic finally using their testing capabilities. Ran more tests today than in any day since the beginning of June. Much lower percentage since I assume they’re testing a lot of asymptomatic people which explains the drop in percentage of positive tests.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we’re in lockdown later this year.

My partner got her results back: negative. She took a second test on Thursday through the health department. We’re still waiting to hear back on our drive thru results from the tribal clinic Wednesday, but I would assume I’m negative as well.

Mask compliance was near 100% while grocery shopping in OKC today (which enacted a mask mandate over the weekend). The only 2 people I saw without a mask were at Natural Grocers, which had previously been the highest usage I’d seen. Went to TJ’s, WF and Aldi and everyone was masked up.

Now close the bars and restaurants FFS.

Some hospitalization numbers have started to come out for FL and TX. Over 9,000 patients currently hospitalized in FL and over 10,000 in TX. This is a better way to compare those states to peak NY since testing in NY was so constrained back then. NY hospitalizations peaked at a little under 19,000. That was about 2 weeks after having 9,500 hospitalizations in NY.

Grunching. But can you expand on this? Seems super interesting.

Grunching again. Melbourne has done a second hard shut down. People are going along with it, but people are much more frustrated and the state leader responsible is taking more heat (although a ton of that is self inflicted)

Went to the dentist today. Waiting room is closed. Had to text them when I was in the parking lot and they called me when it was time to come in. Temperature check and a big glop of hand sanitizer at the door. Hygienist wore an N95, then a surgical mask over that, and added a full face shield while doing the cleaning.
