Nun is deciding for himself what “target SDI” is for each state. If he has some mathematical formula for it I haven’t seen it yet.
Not that he is wrong in a big picture sense, the more we socially distance the less a virus can spread for obvious reasons.
Most people in the know figured that a second wave was inevitable. Might as well enjoy whatever time you have between them.
I just wonder how it will affect schools come September.
There isn’t going to be school here most places.

I suspect that even if school does begin here that it won’t be long before schools start becoming the center of outbreaks.

I notice that Albertsons, Publix, and Aldi are instituting chain-wide mask policies. Lots of smaller chains, too. The biggest holdout appears to be Ahold Delhaize, whose holdings include Giant, Food Lion, and Stop & Shop.
UFCW has been pushing for mask mandates, including a full page ad in the New York Times calling for them. I wonder how much of this industry-wide trend is due to union pressure (including fear that not requiring masks creates an opening for unionization drives to exploit).

Prevented is different from contained. The former was pretty much impossible. The latter has already been done to varying degrees by numerous countries.

If its feasible to open schools, maybe the people who believe that should open a few. See how it goes. Instead, everybody’s supposed to jump in the pool at once? Tell these red state-red school districts especially in the south to go back a month early. If its going to be safe a month from now it should be safe now. And if not, then it should make decision making easier for everyone else come late August or September.
