COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

It was very effective. Blue states and science - believers had their own problems to worry about. Red states and science-deniers lapped it up.

Cuomo is such a pos. Posing in front of a mountain graphic as if this pandemic was over, and as if he didn’t have some massive fuckups himself.

The case here seems to be that Louisiana really, really wants to test more but the supply just is not there. Demand is through the roof and more than ever are getting processed daily but it’s just not enough.

San Diego county should be an interesting experiment. They are allowing gyms and restaurants to operate outdoors…meaning if they didn’t have outdoor facilities, they are allowed to move shit to their parking lots without a permit. The two bigger gyms in town already have classes and some equipment under tents in their parking lots. It’s weird, but we’ll see if it works.

Same here. My old circuit-training class is all outdoors now.

I’m going to drive by today and see if my normal gym tried to move things outdoors.

Tons of restaurants by me now have outdoor seating - taking up part of the street, sidewalk or parking lot. It’s pretty cool actually. Feels like Paris. Still I’ve only eaten at one once since covid and I was paranoid for a week after.

Btw, I’m going to be watching this tonight. Placer and Roseville are pretty deplorable overall, so I am curious just how many looney tunes we get chiming in about how its imperative that we reopen. Ill try to take notes.

Not only does the jab trigger the production of antibodies – proteins that can bind to the virus, preventing it from entering cells and flagging it to immune cells – but it also seems to result in the production of “killer” T cells – immune cells that attack infected human cells.

This is very promising news. From my dim understanding of what I’ve been reading, this T cell response is key to lasting protection, but vaccines that work this way are relatively new.

I assume we can expect a lot of this.

Friends/Family-

Shane and I have been throwing around situations for our wedding. We have also spoke with friends and family that are unable to attend due to being high risk. The resort has continued to push their date back.

As cases continue, and there is no sign of a vaccine, we have decided it would be best to forgo our wedding in Mexico. We cannot express how difficult this was. We want our friends and family to feel safe and this was our best option.

As I kind of figured would happen, covid made the decision for my cousin. I feel so bad for her. She really is the sweetest kid in the world. Her family never really had the money to do international vacations. This might have been her first trip out of the country.

“We’re free!” they screamed, venting their agonies into the tyranny of the cold blue twilight.

And it was true. They had freed themselves from conscience. They had freed themselves from responsibility, from empathy, and from objectivity. Despite the many nefarious obstacles that the world had set against them, they had set themselves free.

Yet there remained one set of chains that bound them more strongly than all of these. It bound them to their beliefs, to their carefully-curated social groups, and to the select few newspapers that validated their preconceptions. For these brave people knew one truth above all others: It is our plague rats that are good, and the world itself that is wrong. And it was because these people were so free, that they could not allow themselves the freedom to explore the alternatives.

As the night darkened, the brave few clutched their rats all the more tightly. They circled their wagons, staunchly withdrawing from the outside world and into prisons of their own making. And they told themselves that they were free because they could not hear anything else. The rats kept them safe. The rats kept them free.

They were free.

Derps on my Facebook are now outraged that people bring admitted for covid are being repeatedly tested to rack up positive results and thus case numbers. Some people are being counted 15 times!

(They aren’t.)

Tell them to go get tested more and increase the number of negative tests. I know a few people who have been tested multiple times and were negative

Also the derps seem to have moved on from SHOCKING FLORIDA 100% POSITIVE TESTS BOMBSHELL

to

BREAKING: UNTOLD NUMBERS OF PRESUMPTIVE POSITIVES ARE SKEWING THE DATA.

Every time they kick the can down the road this thing gets worse for everyone and there are fewer of them (Trump supporters). You guys are witnessing GOP voters being dragged kicking and screaming back into reality. Unsurprisingly some of them are really really resistant. Those are the ones who are protesting.

Being resistant to reality when it finally catches up to you is like getting slapped upside the head by planet earth. I’ve ridden that ride once or twice and I have no desire to ever go again.

EDIT: Remember how it felt right after HRC lost? We were on the right side of a 65/35 and the thing we were out of touch with reality on was how close it was. We were absolutely certain Trump was going to lose (I was for sure). That SUCKED didn’t it? Imagine how much further a Trump voter has to fall before slamming into reality than we did. Some of them are going to be confused for a long long time.

Wife has same symptoms but they told her not to get tested as we can assume she’s positive given my test.

Wonder how many times that happens, meaning there’s even more positives with symptoms going uncounted in surge States?

From the guy who tested positive twice on CP - he’s in Arizona.

Yea good point. Pre COVID a lot of Trump supporters were baffled that liberals didn’t think he was doing a good job. I must have been told 100x that I hate Trump. It couldn’t possibly be he’s unfit for office. Pointing out his failures is apparently hating Trump. Like you said, reality is setting in.

Maybe the initial test was a false positive?

It’s possible - but he works in healthcare with a bunch of people who tested positive so he certainly was in contact. We know there are other anecdotal stories of people testing positive, then negative for a month or more, then positive.

I keep wondering how would we know if this is happening more other than random anecdotes? It’s not like reporters or anyone else is contacting the guy to do a study.

Think about how many people are going to get a test when completely asymptomatic as well. That’s a rare event. Maybe 1 in 100 fully asymptomatic people would ever even get a test? 1 in 1000? So for every anecdote you hear that involves someone completely asymptomatic testing positive - multiply it by at least 100 imo.
