COVID-19: Chapter 4 - OPEN FOR BUSINESS

That’s a good point.

Yeah, the comparison to moon landing conspiracies is apt. Dumb, but mostly inconsequential.

We got Trump because the entertainment-industrial complex propped up his image for decades. Lots of people knew he was a fraudulent scumbag, but our culture says it’s okay for celebrities to be problematic idiots as long as they entertain us. Well, now we have a stupid yambag with a podcast and people defend him because he’s just a silly entertainment bro. We need to hold pop culture celebrities to a higher standard because this shit is not inconsequential.

I agree with your point overall. But the condition of both parties failing ordinary people also had to be true in order for trump to win.

Edit: and I feel like by not acknowledging this we are letting the govt off the hook.

If there’s no spike from protests in the next few days, I’m going to begin golfing with my father probably once a week or so. Seems like it has to be pretty safe if the protests are safe. We’ll make sure we’re locked in as a twosome, he and I will stay distanced (he’s taking fewer precautions than me), and I’ll wear an RZ Mask (supposedly N95 level) until I’m at the first hole and nobody else is around.

My question is, what kind of non-n95 cloth mask would offer the most protection? I’d like to keep one with me, either in my pocket or (lol) around my chin, that I can pop back up if anyone is coming within 15-20 feet or if we’re walking/riding the cart through an area where someone was within the last 5 minutes… Maybe when we’re both on the green together, too.

An n95 seems like overkill for that, and uncomfortable, so I’m looking for a middle ground. I know we’ve seen some studies comparing different materials, but I didn’t bookmark them and don’t recall. Does anyone remember?

PS - Please don’t be a spike, please don’t be a spike, please don’t be a spike. Having this little bit of reprieve/normalcy for a couple of months before the fall wave would be very very helpful to my mental health.

I got some masks from these people that make scrubs. They fit well and at least feel like they’re a little more protective than flimsy cotton.

I don’t think an anti-microbial surface is going to stop a virus.

Sanitiser on hand as crowds gather for Trump rally

Covidiots are gathering outside a major venue in Oklahoma for President Trump’s first re-election rally since the coronavIrus pandemic hit the US.

The event, at the 19,000-seat Bank of Oklahoma Center in Tulsa, is taking place against the advice of many medical experts, who cite fears of spreading Covid-19.

Among them are Dr Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious diseases expert, and the White House coronavirus response co-ordinator, Deborah Birx, according to a report from NBC.

Republican Party organisers say masks and hand sanitiser will be provided at Saturday night’s event.

But those attending must sign disclaimers saying they will not sue if they contract Covid-19 at the venue.

Meantime, our Visual Journalism team have been examining whether the pandemic is getting worse in the US. Take a look here.

Deplorables killing themselves

No complaints here

So no idea on the mask question but one thing I’d recommend is to make sure you bring yourself enough cold water/beer/whatever. No water on the courses. I forgot my small cooler of Gatorades in my car last week. It was like 88 and humid. Realized it on the third hole but walking so it wasn’t like I could just quickly cart it back. Prolly made a -ev decision in buying some Gatorades from the cart girl when she came past but I needed something.

That’s the problem with Covid (it ain’t themselves they’re killing)

Deplorables don’t spend extended periods of time in contact with liberals. They spend their time with other deplorables.
