We just received an invitation to a wedding in early September. Yeah, I don’t think so.
It’s bad enough waiting here now for a few weeks paranoid of every sneeze and cough due to attending a funeral in NC, (and having to travel by air there and back). No fucking chance we’re attending a wedding.
Looks like Orange County (Orlando) has slightly more cases than average in Florida. They have about 7% of the cases the last few days and 6.5% of the state population. As of June 17, I have Orange County’s R0 at 2.55, statewide at that point was 1.54.
Masks work? Type O blood is awesome? I had multiple high risk exposures at the beginning of this, but Ive been wearing a simple mask all day every day since we started getting patients. So I never had a completely unprotected exposure. Now I wear an N95 and shield for all positive patients. I also wear that for any aerosol generating procedures even if they tested negative. I’d say simple masks work pretty well and N95s when properly fitted and worn correctly are nearly full proof.
Got my test results this morning, 23 hours after being tested.
“Hi, is this Brad? Hi Brad, this is Coleen from the [hospital] testing center… So, you had a covid test yesterday, correct? Ok…well, first let me confirm your date of birth. Ok… so… we have the results back. Were you getting tested to get approval for a surgery? Ok… so the results came back and… you tested negative so you don’t have anything to worry about.”
She literally delivered it in the most drawn out and pained manner to the point where I had already resigned to the shock of testing positive before she actually gave the result. But then I laughed and was relieved so it’s all good. I think she was just nervous for some reason.
It really doesn’t change anything for me. I’m basically always on the Covid ward since I’m trained for it, and will continue to be there regardless of this test. It’s not like I would have stopped wearing my PPE.
Lol, I had a tumor on my soft pallet and had a biopsy done. The doc told me to call the next Monday to get my results. So I call and the nurse is like. Oh okay, can I have your full name and DOB please. Okay, let me see…Oh, ummmm…I really need to have the doctor call you back. Ummm, no I’m sorry I can’t give you these results over the phone…
Two hours later certain I have some horrible cancer, the doc calls and says yeah man, good news, benign saliva gland tumor. No worries it’ll take a half hour to get it out. Like I knew I had a damn tumor in my mouth. The nurse saw tumor and thought that shit was terrible news.
TBF - the nurse seeing the word benign somewhere and telling you “all good bro”, when in actuality some other result was really bad - would be a major disaster.
So my lifelong best friend who is almost 40 and 350 pounds is being told to go back to work at a casino today. I tried to convince him not to go, but he’s one of only like five props who didn’t get fired (not at my casino, ha, all of us got canned).
I told him I think they’re in a bad spot for getting rid of him if he tells them he is high-risk and wants time off.
He seems intent on going in though. This is a guy who normally has some kind of sex with two or three girls every day and he hasn’t been with a single one since March but now he’s going back to work. (I know that fact sounds absurd, but it’s true, I’ve seen it many times. He has no standards whatsoever for anything so sometimes I wish I could unsee it.)
40 and 350lbs but banging two or three chicks a day, pretty sure you mentioned this guy before but even wtih low standards im not sure how this happens.
Wait what - I need to know much more about this 350lb guy who has sex with 2-3 girls every day. This might be thread-worthy. Can we get him to come in here and share his secrets?
I can’t really explain it. He’s Black, there’s less of a penalty for being big. And he really will take anything. He was sleeping with a 55-year-old when we were 17. But he does get hot chicks too, although they annoy him because they sometimes expect things from him.
He’s not even capable of talking about it. I can count my paramours on one hand. I’m incredibly terrible at this, especially when younger, but he just can’t explain anything to me at all. I grill him all the time on what to do, and it’s all just platitudes like well just warm her up, etc.
I think it’s more about keeping the entire league, including staff and services - which means hotel staff, restaurant/food staff, etc, in a bubble. It’s not about trying to keep 1 player from spreading it to 5, it’s about keeping 1 player from getting it period.
Doctors can be very weird about stuff like that, but I think one reason is that they cannot be sure how the patient will react.
After I had had surgery for the removal of my testicular cancer, it took a day for lab results to come in and three doctors cane into my hospital room looking like they were about to proclaim and probably execute average sentence.
They told me about metastasis in my kidney. That was after they had told me the day before that this was a likely outcome and that it would lower my expected survival rate from 98% to 95% and I started laughing at the diagnosis, because based on their looks I had expected far worse.
Later on I talked to one of them about it and he said they never knew whatnot expect in that kind of situation, so it is rather awkward (especially since I was in my mid-twenties and my girlfriend and mom were both in the room at the time).
