COVID-19: Chapter 4 - OPEN FOR BUSINESS

For anyone looking for goggles that dont fog up the Dewalt DPG82’s definitely work. The edges were starting to pain my face after only 45 minutes of wear. Healthcare workers are amazing.

Anecdotally, in China eggs are believed to inhibit the covid infection.

Coworkers blaming the protests and not the fact that we opened for business before cases even started declining, officially on monkey tilt.

To be clear I don’t think the protests are helping and will continue to fuel the rise in cases but no way we are seeing the effects of it already; I’m not even sure there has been significant protesting in Phoenix.

Got the draft email to my boss requesting to continue working from home. Do I send it Friday afternoon or Monday morning… hmm.

It it is a lock the derposphere is going to lay blame at the protesters feat. Honestly though, who cares, they were never willingly taking the blame anyways and there would always be some boogeyman or spin no matter what happened.

Percent positive increasing slightly but still way below peak.

Mostly related to higher testing as per usual.

Based on this logic why isn’t NY exploding with new cases. They are doing more testing than ever!

I know more testing leads to more cases, but more cases also leads to more testing.

Yup.

Presumably because they’ve already tested all high-risk populations given that it was the epicenter for weeks before AZ cracked 1,000 cases and b/c it’s NY so they’ve tested millions more people? In addition, you prob don’t know this, but AZ has a massive native population that is dramatically affected b/c they lack basic health services, running water, electricity, etc. Also a really high % per capita of mega olds that are also high risk.

This isn’t hard.

Oregon skyrocketing as well. Just approved phase 2. Guessing their democratic governor is trying to appease Trump?

My buddy makes a good point and I don’t really know what to tell him. He is a manager of a restaurant in Tampa. His wife is also a manager of a different restaurant. Between the 2 of them, they come in contact with at least 1,000 people a week. So how come no one is getting sick?

If more people have symptoms more people seek tests. It isn’t like Arizona just decided to start testing asymptomatic people who weren’t seeking a test.

Also why wouldn’t I know Arizona has a large native population? You really are a huge asshole even on the most minor disagreement. You are also trotting out right wing arguments here. Be better.

It seems like they are, this article discusses how the uptick we are seeing now in Tampa is amongst working age people rather than the olds:

Also do these restaurants have limited seating? Masks? Other precautions? Because if so that stuff reduces your risk substantially but not completely.

Didn’t realize Asia was increasing so much. What countries are driving that?

If they would just report positives per test instead of total positives this would be so much easier to follow.

You come in acting like there’s a huge inexplicable increase in positives in AZ like it’s significant when, in fact, it’s readily explained by simple known facts. That you drew the conclusion you did so confidently betrays your ignorance of those facts (or willful refusal to acknowledge them, which is worse, why I assumed you just didn’t know why AZ having an increase is not surprising not troubling for people under 65 in major population centers).

There is a guy in the thread saying his family member who is a medical worker said the hospitals are full man. I also wasn’t the one to bring Arizona up, they were. I actually made zero conclusions about Arizona other than stating the number of new cases they had today. But keep strawmanning!

Yup. I’m the ignorant one.

I think Florida is in the midst of a scandal about the state cooking the books on COVID rates.
