My kids and I went to the dentist this morning. Feel pretty good about it. Dentistās office is taking lots of precautions. We wore masks, but I didnāt wear gloves, figuring there was very little Iād have to touch. I opened the exterior door to the building and pushed the elevator buttons using a napkin.
Door to the office was open so people wouldnāt have to touch it. Every room had air purifiers. I had to mark a checklist for each of us regarding possible COVID symptoms. Each clipboard and pen is wiped down after every use. Counters at receiption/check-out are wiped down before each patient steps to the window. In fact, when I checked out - they charged us an extra $10 each for PPE costs - she made me wait while she wiped the counter.
Everyone had masks, ldo. The people doing the actual dentistry had N-95s, full gowns, gloves, and face shields for the splattery portions. Chairs were covered in plastic. The hygienist explained to me that everything is either replaced after each patient or sanitized if it canāt be tossed.
I had to rinse my mouth with a hydrogen peroxide solution before we started. She took my temperature.
Everything seemed good. Hand sanitizer was everywhere.
Pandemic is so bad that there are now people advertising feces.
Yeah, my brotherās office just reopened with similar measures. Heās in Washington, so it helps to be in a state that actually locked down and got cases under control.
That may have been true in the past, but there are A LOT of people from both sides now on unemployment. If they start using bootstrap arguments again then they will have to admit they also suck at pulling themselves up by the bootstraps
What the hell is PAL stadium? Is that where the Earthquakes play?
My friends all got nasal swab. Iāve been assuming they all are?
Itās some tiny thing near Emma Prusch park, I had to look it up myself.
The well known test uses a swab like this
It sounds like Santa Clara is using a much shorter swab. I found this article about the self administered tests, and it says:
āThe amount of discomfort that youāre going to have to take the sample will be minimized and you should be able to get the same accuracy in the results about whether you have an infection or not,ā said Dr. Armando Meza, an infectious disease expert with Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso.
According to a study led by UnitedHealth Group, the self-administered test is just as āeffective in identifying Covid-19 infections as the current clinician-collected test,ā adding that results of the self-administered tests where consistent with those of the clinician-collected tests. The tests also reduces exposure for health care workers
Dr. Meza said the difference between a ādeep test sampleā and the self-administered samples has to do with the technology used by laboratories to identify Covid-19. He said in order to see results, the test sample does not need to be large or deep.
"This is the advantage of sample collection from the front of the nose that the technology that youāre going to use now is going to be less likely to give you a false positive meaning that even though the test is negative you still have an infection. The reliability on testing is better because the technology on testing has improved,ā Dr. Meza said.
Looks like a trick. It is police athletic league stadium. I bet it is a felony warrant trap!
Oh fuck I played football here. We called it the P-A-L stadium, and I did not put two and two together. Itās right under the 101/680-280 interchange, right?
We are seeing some pretty large spikes today. Florida and Louisiana are the most obvious with Louisiana having itās first day of over 1000 new cases since April 9th and Florida having itās largest amount of new cases in over a month. Several other states have already reported numbers that are at or near their peak for the last month or so. It could be just random noise in the data or it could also be the first signs in the data of getting OPEN FOR BUSINESS.
USA will probably also hit #3 at some point this weekend in cases/million people excluding the micro nations and will only trail Spain and Qatar.
Any chance this is in SoCal? I have a painful tooth I need to get checked.
That Pritzker tweet is some sick shit. Illinois overtook NYC per capita because it has more people per capita (and on an absolute basis) coming down with coronavirus. New York tests about 3x as many healthy people per sick person than Illinois.
I think itās the small stadium right below where three major interstates connect.
My wife was able to get tested easily, results maybe as early as tomorrow night but should be saturday

I live in Florida and its really frustrating to try to follow the number of cases. The other day they tested a bunch of people in a rural migrant community and came up with about 100 new casesā¦which was about one-third of the total for the county up to that point. Long story short, we have no idea where the virus is and are rolling the dice every time we stray outside of our houses. Testing has been so light and spotty. At this pace, we have little to no chance of playing the next wave any better than we played the first one.
Please tell me that drawing isnāt to scale. Thereās no chance I could tolerate even half that depth. Iām not sure thatās even anatomically possible.
Itās to scale, people have referred to the long swab as poking the back of their eye or scratching their brain. My wife has been terrified of getting tested because of it, so a shorter self administered swab is great news.
