COVID-19: Chapter 4 - OPEN FOR BUSINESS

After the Cheesecake Factory fiasco, I’m getting extra sun and taking a supplement. Falls into the can’t hurt could help category. I drink a glass or two of fortified milk as well.

Want to make some conclusions? None of that is news to any of us. Hopefully didn’t take you the whole 4 months to collect it.

I don’t know about that site, the table under the graphs has us jumping form ~20k tests to ~110k tests on May 4th and toping out at over 250k tests later in the week, but the graph isn’t showing that.

Ugh. It’s a little above linear by quick eyeball. 10% more positives each week which at 5.6 day average transmission time works out to R of 1.08ish I would think.

My friend’s Dad thinks hospitals are being paid $52,000 per case to miscode as COVID, up from $39,000 per case a week ago.

I’ve never said anything like that, I’ve simply pointed out that we have very limited information about how many people may have caught it.

Lucky for us, we’re in the Millenium Falcon, and we’re about to make the jump to light speed without doing the calculations first.

Never tell me the odds, kid!

Have they started to accuse dead people of being actors yet?

These clowns seem to genuinely think that a negative test yesterday means you’re immune today or some shit. Like, even the ones who pass themselves off as somewhat competent and intelligent, like Pence, and I do emphasize the somewhat, are fucking buffoons playing a part who are better at playing the part than the Gaetz’s and Trumps of the world.

This is what separates a Mitt Romney from a Mike Pence. Well, that and the fact that Romney can eat lunch with a woman who’s not his wife - binders full of them, even.

Pence only seems competent and intelligent compared to Trump. He would seem batshit insane and a moron if we had a president who was actually competent and intelligent.

Pence was chosen by the Kochs specifically because he’s a fucking moron who has never had an independent thought in his life. See also Walker, Scott.

Vitamin D is good. For what it’s worth, the smoking aspect is going to hurt you if you do catch it. Nicotine helps you avoid it, smoking is bad for your lungs if you do catch it. Patches or gum are better! But I also wouldn’t be trying to take up a nicotine habit as a preventative unless you were going to be going out more, risking exposure, or started to feel minor symptoms. But that’s just how I’m handling it.

That said, I’m now chewing nicotine gum on Saturdays and Sundays (while I grind 10-12 hours of online poker)… Just one piece each of those days, only 2mg.

Damn, thanks for the info - I’d been wondering. That sucks. Hypothetically, if you had 20 people who needed it, could you put them all in one big negative pressure room and have the people attending to them do it in bulk rather than going in and out of a bunch of rooms? Is that even a thing we could build? With the proper precautions?

Like, obviously I’m a layman here, but I’m visualizing a big tent setup (like one of those nice, semi-permanent tents) with the proper safety measures in place that is not connected to anything else.

When you say tolerated, do you mean like in terms of their willingness to continue it? Or do you mean like literally it’s not possible because they start having bad physical reactions?

Question for the people who would know this… @Will1530 @Danspartan @hobbes9324

How long does it take for Vitamin D levels to rise/fall in relation to exposure to the sun? Would people with severe cases simply have lower Vitamin D levels because they’d been inside sick for 5-14 days?

Where do I go to read about the Cheesecake Factory Fiasco? Sounds like an entertaining short story.

Not yet, but this conspiracy shit seems to be accelerating in insanity with an R0 of around 17.4, so we’re probably only a week or so away from that.

His political views have always been batshit insane, but he presents himself as this calm, somewhat competent, somewhat intelligent politician. He has the suit that fits, the powerful old white guy haircut, the proper mannerisms for a politician, etc…

Turns out, he’s just a radio host who realized he could play act his way into power.

I will likely post about CF story and vitamin D tomorrow. Getting done for the day. Vitamin D will take some reading. I don’t know the timeframe to produce nor the half-life.

The nicotine thing is on very shaky grounds, last I checked.

My wife went to pickup a cheesecake from CF tonight but the person on the phone got her name and number wrong so she never got the text and WITHOUT A TEXT YOU MUST PARK OVER THERE AND WAIT

An hour of waiting later we finally got them back on phone and they found the order and didn’t charge us for it. So a free Banana Cream cheesecake and free strawberries and cream!
