Maybe. We don’t know that for sure yet, last I checked.
Not saying you’re wrong, but this article from a legit source even recommends different concentrations for different products, which wouldn’t seem necessary if they were only sanitizing the water.
But there are probably ten things we are more likely to get from poor food prep than corona virus, so if we are just worried about that, we absolutely should never eat take out or in a restaurant. And I mean never. Before corona virus, after corona virus, if corona virus never existed.
I think it is much harder to mitigate the risk of other diseases and illnesses via food than it is corona virus.
Yeah I honestly wasn’t implying that you were judgmental - just clarifying my own position.
In a more general sense, I think we are pretty aligned in philosophy here. The stance in our household is essentially “we’re going to do the absolutely best we can to limit transmission, both because we feel it’s important and to compensate for the idiots who are gleefully spreading this at rallies.”
Hmm, I’ll ask Mrs. Catface about it. She regulates this kind of stuff and originally told me the wash water thing, but I probably misunderstood her point.
For those of you with kids in college, probably time to tell them to start looking for a job.
Well it looks like I’m going to be heading to a funeral sometime in the next week or so. It’s going to be in a huge church and (I’m hoping) not many people will be there, so it will be possible to keep our distance and wear masks. But most of my extended family are trumpfans and think that the disease has been conquered and is no longer a big deal. If I skipped it I’d probably never hear the end of it, it just sucks to be in this position.
What is predictit for Fauci getting fired? After telling the truth to the senate today, I don’t see how he doesn’t get terminated.
Full spacesuit. And I’m only partially mocking. Rock the best mask you can find, goggles and gloves. Open carry in case anyone wants to fuck w you.
Just lost an uncle this week. My Dads brother in law. Hopefully he doesn’t go.
Sorry for loss, be careful.
Doesn’t seem like there’s anything really clear that’s being disagreed about. And I’ll still think that’s true after you disagree with this post.
What evidence are we ignoring here? Are there any reliable studies of COVID being transmitted through takeout food?
Seems like there’s definitely a both sides answer to this. There is evidence of surface transmission, right? OTOH, evidence of transmission via takeout wouldn’t mean that takeout were anything like a high risk if you just threw out the wrapping and washed your hands.
Just skip it. Fuck 'em. Not the dead of course, but I promise you the dead could not care less if you attend.
Yes? That’s what the article says upfront!
Because it’s a respiratory virus and you’re in danger when people are together in groups.Completely different ballgame.
Regarding @JohnnyTruant’s wild rants, it’s pretty consistent with his posts on lots of subjects. You might buy something at Walmart and decide it’s worth it, but at least own up to the fact that you’re doing something that breaks unions. And generally all your consumerism might be worth it to you, but recognize what it’s doing to people and the world. Eat a burger if you must, but don’t try to tell the cows that it’s raining when you piss all over them. That kind of thing. And he’s right of course. No one is perfect, sure, but don’t use that as an excuse. Great job for doing what you do to try, you don’t have to beat yourself up over things, but also, don’t pretend that your transgressions aren’t transgressions.
Your garden center won’t do curbside pick-up? All the ones around here are asking people to call in orders when they are able to. Dirt seems like a good target for this unless you need to browse the dirt for some reason. I had my place pick out lettuce starters and I told them the brand and types of compost I wanted, and they just put them in the back of our CRV in the special parking spots for curbside pick-up. And we paid on the phone.
Dear Inso,
The
Virus
Does
Not
Care.
Hope that helps.
Man classic Simpsons is amazing. I forgot all about Skinners little “boo” when the teacher approaches the mic.
I like that! My smoker friend wouldn’t appreciate it, I’m afraid. Last time I told her I wished she’d quit she said “You sound just like my mother!” That put me in my place so I didn’t object or even flinch when she lit up over coffee last time.
Eh, how about the cognitive dissonance of knowing that that our lives are pointless and meaningless but acting as if though they aren’t by finding meaning through pointless and meaningless activities?
