Don’t most of the people here still do Twitter?
OK, here me out. This may just blow your mind. Twitter, the company, is not the same thing as Twitter, the user base. Furthermore, and even more shocking: Twitter, the feed of tweets you see on the website, is not dictated by Twitter, the user base, but instead is dictated by Twitter, the company. RAIDS is expecting us to believe that Twitter, the feed of tweets we see, is representative of Twitter, the user base, and anyone who knows the least bit about how Twitter, the company, works should know that’s laughably false.
Pretty funny you being condescending like this when you can’t even follow the conversation you’re taking part in. NMW was talking about Twitter replies. From users. Not the company. But replies from users. That’s the conversation you’re in the middle of now.
Pretty clearly from how rustled his jimmies got that Wookie is a Twitter user in the Musk era.
The same? He’s just giving a microphone to catturd.
Amazing. You think the replies to a tweet are an unadulterated stream from the user base alone?
Did you think by continuing to be condescending with your “Amazing” that no one would notice how “Twitter, the company, is not the same thing as Twitter, the user base” morphed into “Twitter comments aren’t a random sample of Twitter users”?
It’s worked for him the first 45 years of his life.
Why stop now?
Wookie,
You laughed at NMW’s assertion that Twitter users are left-leaning. How is it relevant if the comments he sees are filtered? Wouldn’t he (a right-winger) have comments filtered to suit his conservative tastes? But then why would you tell me the comments are filtered if you weren’t trying to demonstrate that the user base is more left-leaning, the very thing you were laughing at NMW for asserting? (and something the Pew Poll supports)
Or maybe you were having a misunderstanding all along and that’s why when NMW was talking about comments you said something about people who subscribe and pay the $8?
The one clever thing you may have done here, and the reason you got mad at me and was a dick with your “OK, here me out. This may just blow your mind.” bit even though I wasn’t talking to or about you at all is that you picked up on me thinking how lame it is that so many people here are talking about what a cesspool Twitter and how great it is that people are leaving it while they are not (I guess because you’re still Twittering).
No, I’m mocking his assertion that a Twitter reply stream is representative of young, left leaning people, or at least representative of Twitter’s user base.
Even putting aside algorithmic considerations, it’s fundamental to the internet that replies tend to be enriched for disagreement, right? People who agree with masking are more likely to just scroll on past the tweet, but people who want to mock maskers are more likely to reply.
Then you missed the digression that was NMW asserting that generally users are liberal, me just looking something up and posting stats on that, theduker commenting and me responding to theduker - all of that was about Twitter users generally and not even just the comments section of that tweet. That’d be fine and would have worked itself out easily if you didn’t come at me like an asshole.
That wasn’t a digression. That was him backing up his claim that young, veryonline, lefty people are now anti-mask. Maybe if you’d taken a moment to follow along instead of coming at me like an asshole, I might not have felt like throwing it back at you.
My reply was to him and that post. If you think he gave a bad/irrelevant response to you, then you should have been an asshole to him and not me, right? My response to him directly addressed his post though.
How did I come at you like an asshole? I wasn’t talking to or about you until after your idiotic “OK, hear me out” post.
Your citation of Twitter’s young user base sure sounded like you were condescending to me like you thought I had no idea about Twitter people skewing young.
Hmm…I’m surprised that offended you and don’t see how I would have been expected to anticipate it would offend you when I just looked up and posted a Pew Survey addressing the point that NMW was making…but I could see how you would take it that way if you are imagining that I’m sitting around out to get you or something. But no, I wasn’t thinking about you at all.
OK, so then I’m sorry for condescending to you.
Finally got got. Bad cold so far. Were on fucking holiday though, so it’s going to suck figuring out what to do. We already cancelled the main reason we came to this godforsaken state.
Also idk if this is standard but the “T” bar on the RAT looked like the sky at midnight the instant the fluid hit it. There was no “wait 10 mins”.
I got lucky in the sense that I was already back from vacation before I started exhibiting any symptoms. I even may have picked up COVID on the plane home because I didn’t feel sick at all until 2 days later.
I also had the same experience with my rapid test where the positive indicator turned dark instantly. Not sure what it means, if anything.
