Over 75’s already had like 4 shots here, with 2 more planned this year.

:mag: I’ve refreshed a couple times, but still showing up as a heart from an unknown/deleted user. Just me?

ETA: another full refresh and it figured itself out

Are many people still wearing masks in America? Don’t remember seeing them when I visited during Christmas.

It heavily depends on the area and the state that you’re in. I was in Los Angeles and I’d say about 1 in 4 were masking up as a whole. In Northern Cal (North of Sacramento) in less populated areas it was about 1-20. I visited family in Utah and literally no one was masking.

1 in 4 sounds about right for the DC area for places like grocery stores.

25% of people masking is actually kinda shocking. With exception to my GP’s office (she requires all her patients to wear one), I haven’t worn a mask since the mandates were lifted in March 2022. Same applies to pretty much anybody who isn’t sick.

Yeah Ohio is done with masking.

I don’t have a huge sample size other than the time I visited LA but it appeared way higher and somewhere around 25%. But for the area that I live in masks have been basically non-existent for over a year now.

Here are my recent observations from splitting my time in rural Ontario and Toronto.

Rural Ontario - about 2% of people at the grocery store wearing masks, most older people and a couple of workers. Zero masks anywhere else.

Toronto - on the subway maybe 15% or so wearing masks? Around the financial district during business hours almost no one is wearing masks. In bars and restaurants absolutely zero masks. When I pop into my office no one is wearing masks in the workplace.

All nude strip club 95% masked

nobody wears masks in Boston unless they are in the medical field or are in a enclosed public space now (train, theater), and even that is getting around 10-20% at most

Im the last masker in my office. Will likely remain so going forward. Less flu/cold makes me better and happier

Still masking, and not hanging out with mask eschewers indoors

I wear my mask on the bus and subway and take it off as soon as I get to the PATH, don’t really wear it anywhere else.

Yeah, same here when I have been in the city I wear it on the subway and then remove it in the PATH. I don’t think that is a very scientific approach but it feels more respectful to the masking people on the subway who are getting packed into close quarters with me and who may have no choice but to take transit to work. Once I’m going around the PATH or getting lunch at the food court or whatever, people are more spaced out and people have more of a “choice” about being there. It’s more of a social dynamics thing than anything else, I feel bad hopping on the subway with no mask and getting cramped into a tight quarters with someone wearing an N95 mask. That person is trying hard for whatever reason, I just want to respect that.

Masking been a real game changer for me as well. The irony of me not being sick at all since Covid started is not lost on me. Especially since my entire life was plagued with Respitory infections.
