COVID-19: Chapter 10 - Mission Achomlished!

I mean there are a lot of people who are getting actively mad at anyone wearing a mask, so…

Problem is none of them are ever going to see a thread about it in 100 years.

But yeah I’ve been mocked in person to my face for masking like at least once a week over the last couple months.

Oh and if the GOP takes over after 2024, don’t be surprised if masks are banned in public. Land of the Free to stay at home if you don’t feel safe, libtards! But if you want to come out into USA#1, no masks for you. There are acceptable ways to protect yourself and the ones you love, we call them GUNS. If God wanted you to wear a mask, he’d have put it in the Constitution, dumbass!

Apparently

The most interesting thing about the mask haters is how the Venn diagram of self proclaimed Freedom Fighters and people who want mask wearers to stop and just unquestioningly go along with their crowd, that Venn diagram is a circle.

You know who else wears masks. MUSLIMS! Think about it!

masks before covid were sometimes banned in public places. most notably police told multiple people around me to remove face coverings at the women’s march in 2017 and 2018. it was kind of obvious that one could stir some shit up if they thought they wouldn’t be unidentified. of course nowadays, there’s lots of digital info that would amount to the same thing as a picture of your face

Casinos/card rooms for sure. One thing I don’t get is why every poker player isn’t voluntarily wearing a mask right now. No one will make them take it off and and it’s a very simple tell blocker (the value here isn’t huge, but it has to be non-zero). I guess it’s just lighting EV on fire to own the libs.

Tells are super overrated, masks don’t cover a lot of them, and if you’re uncomfortable with it on it will piss you off

I agree tells are over-rated, but I think there is a tiny bit of value there.

I suppose the discomfort can be an issue for some. It’s hard for me to identify with. Once I put mine on, I forget it’s even there.

I’m not sure I could maintain a properly fit N95 and play poker tbh. Fuckers give me a headache, and when I played live I was constantly drinking water.

N95 is a different story. I was referring to surgical mask.

If I wear a mask, I can’t give off false tells.

Also, I try to be social at the poker table and masks interfere with conversation.

Well, I’m sure you still could. Perhaps less effectively.

This also seems weird to me, but fair enough.

I’m wearing an N95 at the table for safety and I believe it is very -EV. First of all, my live sessions tend to be 12+ hours, so it’s super annoying to wear it for that long. Second I never hydrate or eat as much when I’m wearing one, so by the end of the session I’m usually dehydrated, hungry, and lacking energy. Third, I think it makes people perceive me as nitty and costs me action.

I’m glad that in Australia getting mad at people who wear a mask is never a thing that I have observed. If you’re a covid close contact you don’t have to isolate anymore, but you do have to wear a mask in public settings, so if someone is wearing a mask everyone assumes that’s the deal. But also wearing a mask or not is not really a political issue (as long as wearing isn’t mandated) so the idea that someone would get mad about someone else wearing a mask is bizarre. I do think that guy is a little weird for wearing a mask in his office but if it doesn’t bother him then cool. I can’t imagine getting mad about it.

Getting raving mad at people wearing masks seems as dumb as getting raving mad about COVID posts on an internet forum that you don’t agree with. I suspect both come down to an inflated sense of superiority and lack of respect for others and their perspectives.

He actually seems to think this which is incredible this far into the pandemic and this thread!

Wanna start a Covid info thread?

Seems like getting raving mad about people getting raving mad about covid posts would be even worse!

Nah, just like Ukraine vs Russia, such both sidesism falls flat.
