I think she is a nanny or the like. In an at will employment state you can legally be fired for anything that doesn’t discriminate against a protected class (race, sex, etc) if i am remembering employment law from 12 years ago correctly. So assuming an at will state you could fire someone for masking no problem.
Googled it and apparently every state has at will employment laws. USA #1!
I mean i am going from what i remember but disabilities are a protected class to some extent I think? Not 100% sure. Even so good luck winning your case if the other side is willing to keep appealing until they get to an anti-mask Trumper judge.
Frankly the legality wouldn’t matter anyway, for starters we can’t afford to go through the process of fighting it from either a time nor money perspective, so we will be caving and hoping for the best if/when it comes to that.
Oh the best part is her bosses are very liberal and up until the last 2 weeks or so have been very covid cautious. Like most of the selfish fucks in this country, the second they’re done, everyone else who wants to be careful can fuck right off.
4th Moderna shot is in my arm. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t hit me as hard as shots 1, 2, and 3 did.
Also, cases seems to be shooting up again. Obviously nobody cares though. I’m usually the lone masked person in any given store or indoor public space now.
just chiming in to agree that lol case counts don’t seem like they’re keeping up…fourteen of my bay area friends/acquaintances have pozzed in the last two weeks; six kids, four of their parents, four singletons :(
CN—I had been planning on going to some bar for the NLD and yelling my face off…bad plan!
Cases continue their decline in the Czech Republic. Though after my case, I wonder if some people have covid but are mistaking it for something else due to its similarity to colds and allergies and thus never get tested for covid.
My case was super mild. Basically coughed for a few days and had nasal congestion. That’s it. Very easy to mistake for something else if you aren’t vigilant.
The Czech Republic is fully done with restrictions as of tomorrow
I mean the only restriction that existed was masks in medical centers and retirement homes. But this feels a bit like the Charles Bridge buffet from two years ago.
Thing is that ending the emergency means that insurance will stop paying for COVID tests unless they’re ordered by a doctor. This is gonna suck when COVID eventually comes back and we have another wave.
Of course, health care payments by the government are being cut by 20% for the next budget. This is to compensate for the increase made during the pandemic by the previous administration. Not pleased about that.
Was playing at the local bridge club the other day. Bridge club you do have to be vaxxed to play there. I have a slight bit of guilt for not wearing a mask while playing there. But vax is a requirement and like the title of the thread, I give up.
But I did want to throw something at someone who asked someone who was masked “So why are you still masked?”
I got harassed quite a bit for wearing a mask at the table yesterday, one guy had my back which was appreciated. My favorite though, was one of the people giving me shit admitted that he still has trouble forming words from thoughts 2+ years after he caught COVID. He said it started right after he was sick and he’s pretty sure it was caused by COVID.
