Ignore it

We make fun of him and we know we’re right but it’s worth remembering that if the country could go back and pick an approach, his would win in a landslide.

If he’s the nominee and 2024 is a referendum on his approach to COVID against Biden’s, he’s taking 330+ electoral votes.

So in a way, he is owed an apology. He was right about what would ultimately be politically popular.

Like, BA.2 is very likely about to surge in this country. There will be no mask mandates outside of very liberal cities. There will be no lockdowns anywhere. If hospitals overrun, they overrun. People will be warned about it, but that’ll be about it. There will be no new vaccine mandates. No vaccine passports outside of very liberal cities.

That’s the reality of it and the response that most people want. We’re just going to keep doing this once or twice a year until COVID runs out of mutations or we run out of unvaccinated people. I don’t see the end in sight anytime soon.

The best part will be the majority of the country declaring that each new wave is almost certainly the last, then being shocked by the next one.

It might be the insidious influence of Woke Culture. I read on Facebook that there are gangs of ANTIFA Socialist Nazi Trans HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY Globalists running around Florida murdering people and reporting it as COVID.

the fuck is this guy talking about? Which three months was that?

I guess they’re talking about when Florida switched to weekly reporting? Uh, Ok.

Stories from the first wave in Ecuador:

When they finally had all the required documents, they returned to the hospital where Norma had died, only to be told that her body had been moved to another, the Teodoro Maldonado Hospital, several miles away. There, freezer containers had been set up outside to handle the overflow of corpses arriving from around the city, but family members had to identify the bodies before they could be placed in a container. There were hundreds of dead in body bags, lying on the sidewalk in front of the hospital. The stench was intolerable. “The doctors told me start here and end there,” Roberto said, his voice cracking. “It was two blocks of bodies, so I started looking.” He opened dozens of body bags, but never found Norma.

Body bags were being zipped and unzipped, causing the temperature to fluctuate in the tropical heat; name tags came unstuck and were lost. And every day there were hundreds more dead. Security guards at some hospitals were reportedly demanding hundreds of dollars from desperate family members for the right to look for their loved ones in the supposedly sealed freezer containers. Later, when containers were moved to Pascuales, a cemetery at the edge of the city, terrified local residents complained that they were leaking blood and fluids onto the streets.

Using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, consultant Doug Haddix reported Sunday that since July 1 (when the lifesaving vaccine was widely available), the 14 states with the highest death rates were all run by Republican governors. This included Florida (at about 153 deaths per 100,000 residents), Ohio (142 deaths per 100,000), Arizona (138) and Georgia (134). Contrast that with the deep-blue District of Columbia (only 27 deaths per 100,000) and California (58 per 100,000). For verification, I checked with health-care analyst Charles Gaba, whose data on covid-19 and voting patterns has been widely cited. He ran the numbers for me using data mostly from Johns Hopkins and found similar results. The 16 states with the highest coronavirus death rates since July 1 were all run by Republicans. The worst was West Virginia (about 204 deaths per 100,000), followed closely by Oklahoma, Tennessee, Wyoming and the aforementioned Florida.

The response to this will just be how it is only deadly for (154/100000)*100 = 0.154% of the population (in the case of Florida).

Like I said, bring on Captain Tripps. We deserve nothing less

Damn. Not enough to swing an election.

I don’t know what’s going on in South Korea, but it doesn’t seem good.

Did Hong Kong just decide to not vaccinate anyone? Good lord.

We got a similar message recently. We’re on spring break now, but will be mask optional next week when classes restart. To be honest, it’s hard for me to argue - the campus is mid-90s % vaccinated and test positivity rate has been <1% for the last month. If we’re not willing to make masks optional at this point, when will we be?

I think the government offered vaccinations but the population hates their government so they didn’t take them.

Looks like their first wave of any kind is Omicron, and due to their high vaccination rate, the deaths are pretty low.

Looks like they were offered mostly the chinese vaccine sinovac, there were some small amounts of Pfizer for a while, but that was stopped due to quality control issues.
