COVID-19 (2): Turns out it's going to be pretty bad actually

Guy who started working with me when he was 17 grew up in Whittier, San Gabriel, Montebello area and had never been to the snow or the beach. About 20 miles to either.

There is also the more direct ferry route.

At a press conference today Health Minister Greg Hunt said Australia rejects any herd immunity strategy:

Health Minister Greg Hunt says the government flatly rejects the concept of herd immunity.

“Some people have talked about the idea of herd immunity,” he said.

“We’ve rejected that, because herd immunity is 60 per cent of the population on the best advice that we have, 15 million people. If there is a 1 per cent loss of life, that would be a catastrophic loss of human life.”

That would be 150,000 deaths.

“So that’s not a theory which the Australian government or the national cabinet have been considering or proposing,” Mr Hunt said. “We reject it.”

Yep, definitely. Especially the high speed passenger ferry that’s only 30 minutes from Bremerton to Seattle.

I’m pretty sure she had never eaten anything beyond meat and potatoes either before she met me.

Heartbreaking

Yeah I always thought if it was so easy to get this virus from a package or being near someone for a minute the R0 would have been like 10 or 20 not 2. I don’t judge others for taking precautions, but I am not sterilizing packages or too concerned about brushing by people who aren’t sneezing or coughing when out for a walk. I did use gloves to work the ATM machine but otherwise don’t really use them.

fucking shit thank you

good god he was talking about the risk for the other people delivering

you know

the other people who are not you

I agree with your stance concerning your brother but between us: viral load. It’s not as binary as the one outer hitting/not hitting.

When people comment on your toxicity, one example is the level of gaslighting required to claim that I’m exposing the driver to an undue risk when I sometimes do the same thing myself, as noted in the post.

i can’t even

p.s. i should add though that ‘toxic’ and ‘gaslight’ don’t mean ‘things i don’t like’

I’m going out to get supplies but only going out once a month for meds, food and hardware and trying to get it done as quickly and effectively as possible. This means baking my bread everyday, cooking everyday and keeping a garden. I feel genuinely bad for workers who are putting themselves at risk everyday. I don’t actually think our supermarkets are offering delivery except for the elderly etc.

Idk what the solution is but I feel that if you are able to work from home you’re in a pretty privileged position. My bf has lost his job but I just feel grateful I’ve not felt the need to keep up with the Jones and we have no debt and we will be ok. I am lucky to have been born in Australia.

apparently and not surprisingly fox news declared victory in the war over COVID tonight.

I’m sure this definitely won’t mean anything to those projections that they insist were overblown but also they anticipated worse at the same time they insisted it was a nothingburger and god words mean nothing to these people.

Don’t know if it means anything from a total stranger, but so sorry to hear about your loss. Gives you every reason to rant.

Most of Europe is reaching this phase right now.

It’s really unchartered territory. I wonder who’s going to do what. No doubt some countries will fuck up or get unlucky while others crush the recovery.

Wonder if we’re looking at the end of America as the lone superpower if they don’t effectively recover from this.

Probably high. But most likely because he’s afraid of falling off the edge of the earth.

Austria recorded four consecutive days of decline in the number of active cases (9334 → 8350). Loosening of restrictions have already been announced starting next week. For starters small shops, gardening supply and do-it-yourself stores will be allowed to reopen. Schools might reopen mid-May.

Everyone seems super optimistic lately. Hopefully loosening of restrictions doesn’t lead to more outbreaks.

I think Italy will also likely see a decline in active cases by the end of the week and possibly today.
