COVID-19 (2): Turns out it's going to be pretty bad actually

Talk about a guy having a bad year.

my dog loves dobermans, will legit just take off to go play with them. Used to just do it and ignore my calls if I asked him to come back, now heā€™s better at that and will often come back mid takeoff, but look angry at me for telling him to come. They all love him and play with him too, like 6 different female dobermans, some males play with him a lot too. My dog is a pointer and I tried to post photos of him earlier, but had difficulty. Probably too late for more pictures as Iā€™m 1000 posts behind in this thread

Not to mention the actual study itself is dumb for obvious reasons.

I have been debating what I would have done in your shoes. My first reaction was I would threaten disowning him if he did it, but he is 90 and there are simply calculations being made by him that we do not understand.

A little dollop of truth for today:

Getting on wordometers and looking at new cases/deaths for march 19th makes this tweet even more amazing. Itā€™s literally right when everything started ramping up.

Currently on track to have 1.46M confirmed cases in the US when this levels off. lol Musk, as always.

Costco announced some new policies today, including the requirement that anyone entering the store wear a mask.

Do you guys think we can keep Rt below one just through mask wearing and avoiding large gatherings like concerts/sporting events and the like? It seems like we are basically heading towards that level of restriction everywhere but I have serious doubts that will actually result in non-exponential growth.

Seems like a lot of places might be able to. NYC with its mass transit system? Probably not.

Musk is a POS who is positioning himself to claim he didnā€™t know better when he reopens his factories early and some people die. This will not surprise anyone familiar with Teslaā€™s safety record. Not sure what anyone expected from the son of a South African emerald mine owner lol.

It is an amazing coincidence that principled libertarians stand to personally benefit from lax government oversight approximately 100% of the time.

What the fuck?

What a shithead.

(I assume heā€™s talking about Hasidim, but NYC is 13% Jewish.)

Corporations suck so hard. Heā€™s entirely motivated by short term stock prices which is why they keep putting out shit like that god damn stupid truck instead of delivering an economy car that would be less showy, but might actually secure the future of the company.

Not going to agree with that hot take. DeBlasio is an absolute idiot, but calling out those people for gathering like that was the right thing to do, regardless of how much dumb stuff he previously did.

Itā€™s still not the normal course of events. I think I read that thereā€™s some extra form they have to fill out that says they contacted the worker to come back to work and the worker refused. Some might do it but I wouldnā€™t be surprised if a lot donā€™t. Especially if they believe the worker is actually scared for whatever reason. Smaller companies anyway.

Maybe it has to do with furloughed vs. laid off.

This isnā€™t really useful but it talks about the problem.

Hey should absolutely be excoriated by the press and shamed out of the public sphere for delivering 1000 CPAP machines.
