COVID-19 (2): Turns out it's going to be pretty bad actually

The. Victims. Of. Coronavirus. Are. Overwhelmingly. Poor.

The marker that skews heavily towards the dems and away from the republicans regardless of age or race or religion is people who are poor.

37 percent of adults in Indiana identify as democrats. 18 percent of them are over the age of 65: Party affiliation among adults in Indiana - Religion in America: U.S. Religious Data, Demographics and Statistics | Pew Research Center

They don’t all live in the blue cities. Even the reddest of red rural counties have a decent number of dems. Like a county that is almost entirely white and is 80 percent Republican and 20 percent democrat (and that’s an extreme example), has 20 percent democrats. Who do you think those white democrats are? Hint: It’s not the business owners.

Mrs Swanky is convinced that the UK Govt is actively following a policy that has the sole aim of allowing the virus to leave us in an end state of having lower pension and welfare financial commitments

I agree with her. It’s not a written policy or even an openly spoken one, but I bet Cummings has floated to Johnson the benefits to the NHS and DWP of reducing the number of old people.

The only thing that mitigates against this idea is that they also completely fucked up PPE for medical staff, which was in no one’s interest, so it’s still possible we’re in massive cock-up rather than compulsory euthanasia territory.

A combination of the two I suspect - happy for a cull to happen, but also a bunch of self-entitled incompetents

Yeah, I’d say it’s 70% chance of planned euthanasia plus PPE cock-up, 30% chance of total cock-up all round.

This reminds me. I saw a headline yesterday where over 30% of the people in a Boston Homeless shelter tested positive.

According to the latest notices by the IRS yes. But they need to fill out the non filer form.

Paging all the Musk stans.

For the model to be correct we need to average less than 145 deaths a day from now until August 4th. I would gladly bet we don’t have a single day with numbers lower than that by August 4th let alone average that. We are going to hit their new August 4th target by roughly May 7th/8th if I had to guess.

At this point it is hard to think they aren’t in on it in some malicious way as it is awfully convenient the WH and media has been using this model to guide people’s thinking on Covid and it has obviously been complete trash the entire time.

Third of hospitalised Covid-19 patients in UK have died, study finds - BBC News

The biggest study of Covid-19 patients in the UK shows a third admitted to hospital have died.

Just under half have been discharged, with the rest still being treated.

Prof Calum Semple, the chief investigator from the University of Liverpool, said the “crude hospital fatality rate is of the same magnitude as Ebola”.

He said around 35-40% of hospitalised Ebola patients die.

"People need to hear this… this is an incredibly dangerous disease."

Nearly 17,000 patients from 166 hospitals were part of the study. Obesity and age both increased the risk of death.

The study also confirmed that men are more likely to have severe disease, and the gap between outcomes for men and women gets wider with age.

You can do the hand clap spacing and still be wrong

That is some pretty scary stuff right there.

Congrats that you’re pointing that out as bad. 200k unsheltered each night in the USA.

It is bad but younger people may not find it so. When I was a young teenager in London people were aware of the group of tramps at Waterloo and another on the Embankment, but otherwise very few homeless, perhaps only a hundred or so in London.

Scary and may assist with giving better US death estimation

New York City has something like 40% of hospitalized patients dying. So at least there we shouldn’t see too much of an upward revision.

Today’s stress: 90 year old Dad flying tomorrow. Tucson to Ohare. Ohare to small airport in Michigan. Just watching the plane spread animation video on CNN.

Why why why are the airlines not all mandating masks? Will be interesting to see if his temperature is taken. I’m assuming everyone will at least be asked if they’ve had symptoms.

Yeah I know—-we all tried to get him to stay out there for now but he’s 90 year old stubborn. I already talked to him like he was a child this week when he called me about the Bill Gates interview. He was unaware BushII/Obama developed programs and plans. Trump threw them all away and fired everyone involved.
