We are under shelter-in-place until April 30 but they are opening nail salons on April 24th.

I’ve been thinking about this. Either up or down would work but I think up would be better. If for nothing else that little kids, kids in strollers, people in wheelchairs would be on the downside of vast majority. Also if pushed to the floor the germs might accumulate?
Engineering wise It would be a lot easier to mount the blowers and filters up high and have intakes under grocer store shelves, Restaurant table, wall edges etc. (narrator- he’s just guessing he is a very very slightly educated clue).
We are so excited to get haircuts and the wife wants her nails done and then we can get some date night bowling in.

Down for sure. Droplets and pathogens in general will settle by gravity naturally, and the sinking air moves this process along much faster. Clean rooms operate on this same principle.
Also HVAC is already set up to supply air from above in 99% of cases.
I mean I think we are going way past 100k deaths in 2020. If we kept up social distancing I think Trolly or Dan’s model is fine but we are now OPEN FOR BUSINESS bowling and spending 20 mins having a Covid super spreader belch Covid directly into our faces while we get our hair cut. And that is mayve a couple days after the peak with hundreds of thousands of known active covid cases. We are going way over 100k. Maybe not a million but in the hundreds of thousands.
We hit 40k deaths in a month after starting with hardly any cases but maybe getting OPEN FOR BUSINESS will prevent a several orders of magnitude worse repeat.
