Damn sorry to hear that bud. Do you have to quarantine for 14 days now?

I’ve been told to monitor and report symptoms to employee health twice a day. Which honestly is also kind of insane, but the hospital can honestly say they are following cdc guidance.

I talked to my brother earlier. He’s an astrophysicist so he has a lot of doctor friends. Some of the epidemiologists he’s friends with are thinking this might be one of those things that everyone eventually gets and that either you live through it or die. There also seems to be a percentage of the population that may be immune.

More lol Florida news. The Miami Herald filed a lawsuit to find out test results at nursing homes. Florida Man Governor called their law firm and asked them to abandon the suit (the law firm agreed because LOL LAWBROS EVERY FUCKING TIME).

Krucial Staffing, according to its website, has brought on medical workers for short-term contracts, typically during natural disasters such as hurricanes. The company has sent thousands of medical professionals to New York and Louisiana over the past few weeks, promising as much as $13,000 a week for nurse practitioners and $10,000 a week for nurses in return for working 12-hour daily shifts during 21-day deployments. According to the suit, the company assured its recruits they would receive personal protective equipment—despite the fact that supplies of some types of PPE, including N95 masks, are days from running out in New York City hospitals—and that they would be given assignments that fit their skill sets. Neither turned out to be true, the suit contends.

Similar here. We very quickly went from quarantining any possible exposures to ¯_(ツ)_/¯ just keep showing up as long as you’re not symptomatic. You’re obviously much deeper in the shit though. Good luck.

Omg not the chickens too. (Seriously this would suck if something really whacks the food supply)

Anyone watch the Last Ship on TNT? The first plague killed people. The. A second killed the food plants. (Can’t remember exactly, I think the plant one was man made).

Why do you not feel empathy for a nurse or doctor just because they live in Trump country? Or is that not what you’re saying?

By “Trumpstains,” I meant Trump supporters.

That was me. She ended up getting a family court lawyer who is firmly on her side. He (the EMT) ended up showing up at her door with the cops on the day he was supposed to get the daughter back. The cops were cordial and wearing masks. He wasn’t (just a huge lol at this). She told them she wasn’t opening the door and they left. She has already agreed to make the missed time up in any way possible once this is over, but I’m sure there’s more drama to come. It’s just a terrible situation for both of them and for their daughter.

At least it’s worked out well for her so far. Hopefully it stays that way.

I was in the middle of a ton of stuff like that as a kid. My dad and my mom were constantly fighting over visitation stuff. Had to go to court and testify. Got to watch my stepdad beat up my dad. That was no fun.

I don’t think anyone really posted about this, but there was this surreal moment today where the Kansas Supreme Court heard arguments over Zoom in the dispute over the Democratic governor banning large gatherings and the Republican legislature trying to override that.

It looks like the court has ruled in favor of the governor and of sanity.

When a small % of the population has antibodies, most of the positive antibody tests will be false, even if the false positive rate is only 5%. This basically means antibody tests will be worthless until more than a third of the population has antibodies.

I thought this video was very good. Simulating rates of infection while adjusting various variables. The visuals are great as well.
