COVID-19 (2): Turns out it's going to be pretty bad actually

Is most of the LA smog due to vehicle emissions, because I’m assuming there aren’t many 1970s era industrial smokestacks still in operation?

I think a compelling argument has been made by many people that the government of any country is really not in control of when things are back on track.

It is entirely going to depend on the citizen’s fear of dying/spreading Covid versus fear of other factors.

Parents are not going to send their kids to school if there is a real chance they can get real sick in that environment. Obviously a percentage of people everywhere don’t care at all, but for everyone else it is going to require everyone collectively getting past that fear and that is going to take real work and results.

And unfortunately a vaccine designed for everyone is extremely complicated to test as you have to check it’s impact versus other diseases and conditions as well as the insane number of medications people take.

Not sure there is an advance directly to go method of testing that is not massively dangerous.

Because without enough testing a vaccine could cause the deaths of tons and tons of people, possibly even more than the disease itself, or permanent neurological damage, organ damage, etc. etc. etc.

That’s why it’s gotten so much better in the last 20 years or so.

If we consider that all cases less than two weeks old are contagious, if we relax now as some are pushing that’s roughly 400k. If we get that doubling time back down to 3 days and it takes us 12 days to figure it out And lock back down that’s 6.4 million or 6 million new infections.

It might be better long term to just go door to door and anyone that wants to open back up because they don’t understand math we just use our portable guillotine. They are probably a drag on society in normal times.

Look for the civil war in Kentucky- there seems to be a plan in some places to record license plates in church parking lots and then send mandatory quarantine orders to the corresponding addresses.

Since consumer grocery stores are limiting milk and egg purchases in many areas this is directly insane.

This to me is the same as the article I posted about hospitals refusing free lab testing because their backend is not compatible.

Everyone is looking for excuses instead of solutions. Telling me there is nothing that can be done with that product other than destroy it causes me to say “Bullshit” reflexively. There is no way that is the only option. People just want to make excuses when things are a little hard.

Plus what do farmers here care? They know they get bailed out no matter what they do and some of them destroy a majority of their product in good times.

It is almost like if competent people were involved things would be different. We have massive unemployment, food banks massively overburdened and we are destroying staples because it is too hard to think and hurts our brains.

There is apparently a virtual celebrity poker game going on for charity, but I’m not sure how to access it:

This seems to be some evidence for a weekend slowdown in people going to hospitals. I wonder if the at home death rate is higher on weekends than weekdays? Those aren’t getting counted as COVID-19 yet so I don’t know if the data is available.

3rd paragraph…

The actor posted a message about the event on social media Friday, inviting people to join the livestream on Twitch at 11 am PT.

It will be streaming on twitch starting at 2pm.

Someone needs to make a thread.

I should have clarified that “I don’t know how to access it” means “I’m old and have no idea how twitch works.” Do I need the app? Because I forgot my apple password and it’s such a pain to reset it.

Avenatti has been released due to coronavirus concerns:

Apparently he had pneumonia last year.

He was in jail? Totally forgot about that dude lol. How long was he sentenced?

Can watch on any internet browser or the app

As long as Topher Grace isn’t involved at all I’m in.

He was convicted of one of the things involving the shake-down scheme i think but is pending sentence maybe? I forgot about him too. He’s still got other trials coming up though on his other crimes.

He’s gonna start doing some more crimes now that he’s out, isn’t he. Dude just loves doing crimes.
