Tip. If you need something and your local mega market is out try your Asian market. Bonus you get to help someone probably hurting from racism.
Hawks gonna pay all arena employees during the NBA outage. I think Mavs and maybe Woyas are also and prolly all the other teams will have to follow suit soon.
Lulz Vegas
I haven’t read The Stand since I was very young but isn’t there a Vegas connection?
I’m not unworried, but sometimes you feel like you don’t have a choice when you play for a living.
More than a connection. It’s the base of operations for the bad guys. And it eventually gets destroyed by a nuclear bomb.
Going to be interesting to see how the social distancing really works since compliance seems to be a hit and miss proposition. My Monday night bowling league has 100 players. They’re still planning to bowl Monday since there have been no positive tests in my area. There are positive tests one county to the south and more cases to the north, but none here. Of course nobody is asking how many people have been tested here.
There’s little doubt that there will be cases by next Monday…so why not stop a week early? And one of our bowlers is a physician who works prominently with the local health department. He says its a go for now. I’m still staying home. I would have a hard time justifying why its okay for 100 people to gather for bowling when all kinds of stuff is being shut down.
fair enough
IL casinos closed for 2 weeks. Not trying to compare to Vegas at all, obv apples and oranges
Yeah like there are levels of priorities on who we test and how, but the importance of having enough tests to test tons of asymptomatic people some what randomly is hard to overstate in terms of informing policy and learning how to move forward. Especially if we could test to see if people had already had it and had some immunity. I imagine that millions of us would love to put our immunity to work if we knew we had it, especially in a couple weeks, in literally any helpful way possible.
And then think about 40-70% of US population being infected over 12-18 months WITH social distancing in place.
I think 30 or 40-70 percent has been their estimate from the start, and I’m not sure if it factors in social distancing.
The whole team of a German soccer club is quarantined because two of the players have been diagnosed as infected. On of them has had it for a week now and both of them are completely symptom-free and taking part in the teams at-home-fitness program.
There is obviously going to be some selection bias in professional athletes, but this still tells me there will be a lot of undiscovered cases if you don‘t test everyone.
They spend a lot of time in enclosed spaces with each other on planes and buses (even the teams flying from city to city are busing to and from hotels and stadiums). As a result, the R0 in those cases is going to be way higher.
I’ve had similar symptoms over the last 6 weeks. It started with getting hit with a 10 minute wave of nausea that came out of nowhere and then went away almost as fast, but I was extra tired for a few days. But I’ve had very little coughing, more just a tight chest and in infrequent productive cough. I keep thinking it’s gone and then it comes back, but it’s minor. Oh and I work right in the same area as Biogen (blocks away). But I just assumed that it was some kind of other minor cold type thing, and still think that is by far the most likely explanation.
That’s weird, my cough keeps getting better and worse and better and worse. I do recall a couple of waves of nausea that I attributed to whatever I had just eaten. I wouldn’t recognize fatigue cause I’m often exhausted from a lack of sleep. My cough has remained slightly productive about 90% of the time, totally dry maybe 10%.
So many people are having colds that seem a little off from a normal cold, but we all assume it wasn’t coronavirus. Maybe we’re lucky and the 30-70% is right, but the severity rate is lower than expected and a lot of us have already had it.
Netanyahu is not very low-key attempting a coup in the name of “state of emergency”, postponing his trial indefinitely.
Lol at 2 weeks. Just trying to soften the blow.
I’m not the governor
I really can’t believe we’re having a discussion about whether testing works. S. Korea is testing better than anyone outside of China and they haven’t even had to shut down all their bars and restaurants. Let’s not dream up reasons why those things might not be correlated and just scream for more testing.

Me, everyone in my office and tons of my friends and family members all got a cough that lasted 3 weeks to a month. Started out mild, then like 2 weeks of just coughing hell then slowly fade out. A radio DJ described it exactly and said his Dr. told him he had the croups. I got it in fucking Vegas because of course.
Who knows but there was definitely a unique cold going around. Might be what you have.
i don’t feel great being in vegas. there have been confirmed cases at the mirage, the luxor, and MGM. there were 19 poker tables going at the bellagio last night.
Are there still games or poker tables going?
