That’s generally what I think reporters are doing when they use mealy mouthed bullshit phrases like “my understanding” followed by some news analysis based on blind quotes or, seemingly in this case, not even blind quotes.

Man, this is going to result in some crazy legal stuff. Many contracts will be cancelled or significant payments missed, many force majeure policies will be invoked, many claims will be made on insurance or re-insurance companies. We are going to see an experiment take place along the lines of “what if society just shut down.”

Right, because Trump deliberately sabotaging the testing effort makes no sense at all. So you’d need some compelling evidence to show that is what happened. Not a journalist saying that’s “his understanding” without actually telling us what evidence he’s basing that on.
That list of EPA approved CV-19 disinfectants that was posted earlier. If you click on an individual product, the approvals are all (or mostly, I didn’t look at each one) dated before CV-19 existed. So EPA has to be making assumptions. But I think it’s pretty safe to assume that whatever mechanism kill one type of coronavirus should kill them all. (Disclaimer: I’m not a biologist and I sometimes wonder if I’ve recently suffered a stroke.)

There are 27 senators over 70, only 11 are Republicans. But four of the five who are 80+ are Republicans (but Feinstein the oldest). 39 senators are 60-69, 17 Dems and 22 Republicans.
Problem for them is, they’re the ones shaking hands with all the people who think it’s a hoax.
