I ate a Thanksgiving dinner
on the beach in Florida one year so some restaurants must be open today, with Covid though who knows. I had McDonald’s breakfast this morning on the way to the golf course…

Mmmmmmmmmmmm drool.

This is the real blasphemy.

I made bacon and eggs on toast for breakfast and making smashburgers for late lunch for the fam. No sweet potatoes and marshmallows maybe, but i feel as american as apple bombing a country to teach them freedom pie

Gotta agree. That’s definitely not an Israeli breakfast. I think you have successfully assimilated.

Yeah, that’s a pretty blistering take right there.

Got a real nice smoky flavor in the meat, stayed very moist and the skin is fantastic. Will do again.

We’re visitors to both and live about halfway between them.

We like Portland more because the public transit system is so much further advanced than Seattle. We usually get a hotel downtown and once we arrive we don’t have to drive anymore.

Also, pok pok chicken wings. Which I think are no more :(.

RIP, glad I got to go there before they closed though. I have not been to Seattle other than to take a cruise out of it with my family in my early 20’s but I agree about Portland, very easy to get around and great food.

I did have a roughly chopped salad which had no meat in it and yogurt with jalapenos, lemon and olive oil with my breakfast, so not fully assimilated yet. Next time I’ll have a side of capn crunch.

Make sure you have good insurance to repair your mouth.

The point of a fall harvest holiday is to… celebrate the fall harvest. Thanksgiving comes from a tradition of eating like a pig while the eating is still good before the lean times come. Before most people ate processed crap and imported vegetables an American fall diet was lots of starch and root veggies and dark greens and cranberries and a celebratory protein. A tomato salad and some melon for dessert wouldn’t really make sense.

Half the enjoyment probably comes from the rare novelty of the foods (most people only eat most of these dishes once or twice a year) but I happen to love most of them.

Canadians don’t put marshmallows on food (that seems like Southern Diabetes cooking) and stuffing is great when it’s not cooked in the bird.

Hey, you do you. This is something my family still serves on Seder. No cranberry sauce would save that.
The rest of the meal gets updated from time to time though. –

Gefilte is good with hren but also because it’s something people rarely eat.

You can have mine.

Gefilte fish is like the quintessential disgusting cultural food. Idk as a Jewish person I generally do not like traditional Jewish food but Israeli food is great.
