I remember taking History when I was in 9th or 10th grade. The class was talking about the Civil War. The teacher had an in class assignment where the first kid in the front row had to pick a state from the North. The second kid had to pick a state from the South. And so forth. This was all in NJ. Anyway, the first kid goes and says âNew Yorkâ for the North. The second one goes and is like âFlorida,â for the South. The third one has to pick a state from the North. Sheâs like âUmmmâŚâ. Half the class is whispering to her âPick NJ!â Again, we are in NJ. She says âNo, Iâm not stupid! I know NJ is in the South!â
Anyways, she was my next door neighbor growing up and now home schools her kids. She thinks Covid is a hoax and that measles doesnât exist.
Oh and she hates Trump. Growing up in NJ/NYC in the 80âs predisposed kids to hating Trump. He was a buffoon and the NYC media didnât hold back.

The Senate Dems should come out and say âWe are no longer in favor of the filibuster. Itâs clear that the American people feel that government isnât working, and itâs time that the Senate become more responsive to the peopleâs will.â
The only exception they would need to carve out is anything having to do with screwing with elections and voting. Making the outcome of the election more directly related to actual policy outcomes is one way of leveling the playing field to offset the right wing misinformation machine. I donât see this as accelerationist, as it is truly a positive reform democratically. The Dems have to get out of the position of defending the system, which we see is a losing hand.

Why do Republicans get to be the party of fiscal responsibility when they are the ones who always run up budget deficits? If they want tax cuts for the rich, demand that spending be offset. Never give them any votes for anything without 2x in return. If they canât pass a budget without your votes, be willing to let the government shut down. They need to hammer home âRepublicans have bankrupted the country with billionaire tax cutsâ.

I just figured out why the world is fucked. Other than corruption and rigged elections, if you just make the wording less judgmental, it all sounds great or fine to a lot of people.
What usually makes people realize that fascism is not great is when they can smacked in the face with reality. Specifically when all the machoisim leads to a war that leds to massive death and carnage in their country. May even end up getting occupied by another country.
Thatâs pretty much never going to happen to America. We donât suffer any real consequences for our wars. 9/11 and Pearl Harbor notwithstanding, our cities literally donât get touched during war. We waste a lot of money and lose the lives of how many ever soldiers we deem acceptable and then that is it. That is the extent of the consequences.
So after seeing the âcatastrophicâ results of 8 years of fascism with GWB, we are in a position sign right back up for it with Trump in 2016. And all he had to do to make people forget the downside of fascism is call the previous fascist stupid.
