Convicted felon Donald J. Trump thread XXX: President Elect

Way too much discussion about stakeholder: a simple, easy to understand word.

People are focused on the ā€œstakeā€ part and neglecting the ā€œholdā€ part, which is equally offensive. You may not realize this, but hold is derived from HODL, which is a term used by investors in cryptocurrency and meme stocks. This type of language unfairly erases people who donā€™t have the funds to invest.

this is always my first thought when it comes to the sycophants showing up at court

Merchan is an appointed judge. You know who else is appointed? Cannon.

Anyway, from what Iā€™ve seen, there werenā€™t any big revelations today. Mostly stuff that was known. Ok, we got some added details but we could have filled them in ourselves.

Mike Johnson is currently breaking the gag order at Trumpā€™s direction, attacking the Judgeā€™s daughter and Michael Cohen. Heā€™s using Trumpā€™s phrasing to make it extra clear.

Iā€™ve been reading the commentary of mostly NBC, ABC and NYT as theyā€™ve seem to be the least biased. Iā€™ve since dropped reading NBC, as they seemed the most sensationalist of the group, and were reporting the furthest from my experiences.

After my trip, I have been keeping almost entirely to NYT, as they were getting the general feel that I felt as witness to the trial. Overall, I feel like a lot of the media reported that Stormy Daniels was overly nervous, but I didnā€™t read it that way. She was told multiple times by the prosecution, the judge, and the defense to slow down when speaking as the stenographer couldnā€™t keep up. The media reported this as nerves, but I always felt that when she was speaking quickly, it was because she was getting in her zone, and being herself. I believe she just speaks very quickly.

The media also didnā€™t report well that she was far more intelligent than the defense was implying.

But, yes. The media, especially FOX and CNN are playing up parts for viewer share. FOXā€™s reporting, as youā€™d guess, is based in fiction. CNN is trying to ā€œboth sidesā€ a lot of it. MSNBC has been surprisingly fair, but obviously their base hates Trump, so theyā€™re leaning a bit. I would recommend the NYT live update blog over anything, since they have a panel and are willing to disagree with each other to provide further insight.

(And plug for ground.news, btw. Itā€™s an aggregate that shows stories being reported from all sides, and how often. Itā€™s been very helpful for me to eliminate biases in my news reading. I am not an employee, nor is anyone I know)

Doesnā€™t seem like the defense should have many witnesses. This thing could be over pretty quick.

Really oping that there is a line of former Celebrity Apprentice contestants to serve as character references.

Maggie Haberman is right there ready to go!

A lot of the what the prosecution went over today seemed kind of obscure to me. Probably going to have to read the transcript to understand its significance. Donā€™t know if Iā€™m up to it. At least the cross examination is off to a more interesting start.
