College Football 2024: Hail to THE Buckeyes

Arguing with college football fans why it’s a bad idea for fans to be allowed at games during a pandemic

Should I go to games just to knee for the anthem?

Syracuse football is going to have more than 1 fan in this pandemic?

So CF started tonight and it’s Austin Peay vs Central Arkansas being played in Alabama for some reason. 1st play of the game is a 75 yard TD run. At least college defenses still being terrible hasn’t changed in 2020.

Defense could’ve just been social distancing.

LSU WR opting out of the season and will go to draft next summer.

The “payment” these kids get is to show off their skills so they can get drafted and make money.

If you are already guaranteed to be drafted in first few rounds then sitting out this year is smart. Why risk lung or heart issues

They tested players after the first game this weekend.

They have to test negative twice before the next game.

However, if you test Monday/Tuesday (as they are), that’s 2&3 days after the game and even 4 days later you get 40% false negative.

They should be testing Thursday/Friday or it’s all just testing theater.

Jawja’s transfer QB from Wake just opted out of the season. Gotta think he enters the draft next year right?

Because having an enlarged heart is something that never caused issues to anyone competing at the highest of athletic levels before…

I mean, obviously this isn’t surprising to anyone here. Athletes will be seriously scarred for life or will even die but the college football train rolls on with those in charge either remaining or just moving on to different jobs.

Just like the flu IMO.

Now they’re revising it to 15%, but if that’s true, then aren’t we basically fucked as a society anyway? 15% of elite athletes with resulting heart conditions. I’m assuming it would be a little to a lot higher among the general populace and w/the sheer #s that will have contracted covid once it’s all said and done that’s a fuckton of people.

Well we don’t know how bad of heart issues those people will have from it nor how long they will last.

It could be not much and short-term.

But I’d rather know for sure before going for herd immunity among younger people and athletes.

On the other hand, MONEY, so what ya gonna do? Have the NCAA lose money?

I think its dumb that teams are getting the chance to play out of conference games and other teams are being barred from playing OOC games and conferences are just allowing it for paydays. Or to just give money away. USF, Cincy and Tulsa all pissing me off right now.

And as an explanation of that. The school I am currently at has had multiple games lined up with OOC opponents. None of which were paydays but rather opportunities to see opponents prior to conference play. Each one has been declined by our state government despite choosing schools in “green zones”(you’d be surprised what is accepted as a green zone right now aka, an area in which are approved for scholastic travel). Just frustrated because we just got the information that we are no longer allowed to apply for any OOC opponents and our season will start in October.

Florida State has blocked two FG attempts and basically has dominated Ga Tech in every way but winning 10-7

Wake Forest is predictably awful

Now tied 13-13

Virginia Tech hit with COVID. Next week’s opener against Virginia already postponed.

Think the Big10 is going to announce their plans for 2020 in the morning. Just a hunch.
