College Basketball 2024-25 Season Thread

It’s going to result in another epic failure of two incompetent hacks trying to self preserve their insane unjustified salaries. How can they srsly talk about getting older when they have six freshmen commits for 2024-25? Also:

Also the top two UK recruits on 247sports are #8 and #18. I thought one and done used to work when the recruiting classes were 2, 5, 6 like for the 13-14 team. But last year was 3, 4, 6. And those 3 weren’t even the top 2 freshmen.

Also was this a good time for Calipari to start a new podcast?

I do have to say Obama is a hell of a first get…but having him pick UK to the title game…oof…

Calipari is definitely goated at certain things like talent evaluation and recruiting. I don’t want to take anything away from him there. It’s just that those things don’t matter as much now and you can’t be a potato at X’s and O’s anymore. A $15M coaching staff should never get outcoached by Oakland but that’s exactly what happened. They have three shooters even better than Gohlke and couldn’t get them open looks because they were staring into the Pulp Fiction briefcase looking at that matchup zone. Straight up malpractice.

Alabama vs Clempson? What month is it? What sport is this?

Playoff committee at it again

We have avenged you WSU!

Everyone else feel dumb as shit for not taking UConn at higher than +400 before the tournament?

Parlaying their money lines won’t come close even if they play Houston in the final.

What’s this about Houston? Do people think they’re the 2nd best team? I think they lose to Duke today.
I think it UConn was clearly the best team, followed by Purdue, and then a bunch of teams mixed together. Tennessee was probably the 3rd best team imo.

Idk, probably tight with Purdue oddswise.

Houston being favored by 4.5 against Duke while Purdue is favored by 5.5 against Gonzaga seems to suggest the market prefers Houston a bit (obviously this is very simple analysis).

And on Good Friday, God said "Fuck the Jesuits’.

Someone avenge Illinois please. ty

Is this going to be 2 tournaments in a row where UConn just boringly beats the shit out of their opponent in 6 straight games, isn’t it?

Save us, Zach Edey.

I kinda think Tennessee is the team that matches up best. Elite defense that might be capable of disrupting UConn and more athletic than UConn. Purdue is basically an offbrand version of Uconn. Of course Rick Barnes kinda sucks at actually coaching. Hurley has a massive advantage vs. Tennessee there.

I can see that. Purdue and Tennessee are definitely the two toughest possible matchups in some order, but unfortunately UConn can only face a maximum of one of them.

Of course, with our luck we’ll wind up with a UConn/Duke final that will make everyone want to vomit.

Anything can happen, but I really don’t see this Alabama team taking down UConn.

Clemson wins that game if they could just make free throws.

I think Bama is more likely to beat UConn than Clempson. Not saying it is likely, but there is a scenario is which Sears goes full Curry and drops 35. And Alabama drops 20 3s. Highly unlikely but more likely than any scenario in which Clempson beats UConn.

The line is UConn -11, which I think is very well set.
