Like a drop ceiling, but with beefier members. The drywall is screwed to the grid. The goal is to decouple the ceiling from the floor. You want something with a lot of mass that can absorb and dissipate the sound waves rather than transferring them.
It’s not just about doors being big or heavy or whatever. They need to be sealed when closed like an exterior door. If air can get through then sound can get through.
I’ll look for it if I’m still around the project when it gets to that point. This came up because I asked the guy putting foam on the floor what it was for. They aren’t that close to finish stuff on the inside.
The problem is that nobody wants to store the waste on their land. We haven’t gotten anywhere with the search for a new permanent disposal site. Some states like Bavaria and Saxony said before the search even started that both states are out of question. Yet just this week the PM of Saxony said we should keep nuclear energy open as an option. The hipocrisy is just not funny anymore.
Was just reading an article on rising temperatures and encountered one of the more bird-brained paragraphs I have ever read in a news story:
While the record of global average temperatures only goes back to 1880 and the Earth may have had higher temperatures in the past (a possibility that can’t be scientifically proven with much certainty), the rising global temperatures are particularly concerning because they are happening in the present, where we live.
BREAKING: After some thought, I have determined that another reason the temperature rises are concerning is that they will continue to happen in the future, which is where we will inevitably be living subsequent to this present moment, due to the passage of time. More information as it comes to hand.
