Itâs the lifeboat you donât know youâre in.
Every capitalist system in the world is a âhybridâ system. The US today has more socialism than anyone could have imagined 100 years ago. There is no difference in kind between the US and Denmark, there are differences of emphasis and degree.
Itâs not meaningful to blame capitalism for current woes.
No kidding. The US system is much farther to the capitalist side than the socialism side. Thatâs why it sucks. The European models are largely much farther to the socialism side. Thatâs why they suck less. I completely disagree that capitalism isnât to blame for what is happening in the United States. The more capitalism you have the shittier the situation for the average citizen and I donât think that is deniable really.
Yes thatâs the best point, also would like to add that we havenât had democracy here as it should be yet. We are still working towards what it should be and if there is a slide itâll just be back the âoldâ democracy of democracy for white men which is what itâs always been up until pretty recently, less than one lifetime ago.
Itâs ok to blame capitalism for current woes as long as.you keep in mind it can be a lot worse.
Do you think people here are saying that things canât possibly be worse? The point is that things are bad because of the capitalism. Make an actual point that refutes that rather than this strawman you are both clinging to.
I think things are good in part because of capitalism. For example, the phone Iâm typing this on.
Iâd like to see a version of this where the second panel reads, âThis is socialism.â
I donât want to debate this certainly with you, but having smart phones is in no way a thing that âonly can happen with capitalismâ, nothing is, itâs just something dumb that people say
If anything I would argue that the current state of capitalism hinders novel technological advances in things like phones(and most other industries). That market is controlled by a tiny number of players who re-release the same phone for a decade with minor tweaks. Then the media owned by those conglomerates puts out 100 AI pieces about how great the new IPhone 27 is. Then iron buys one for $1200 and thinks WOW CAPITALISM IS GREAT!!!
Did you know that without capitalism people just stop thinking of inventions? Weird I know but itâs true!
Iâd love to see the scale that youâre using for this claim.
You think the US is more socialist than capitalist?
I looked it up, 27% of US GDP goes to the govt. So 27% socialist. The highest is France at 46%.
I think socialism doesnât mean âhas programs for social welfareâ. I think socialism means that control of the means and distribution of production falls to the collective. That is decidedly not what happens in Europe.
Youâre doing the same thing that RWNJâs say about Europe when they call Europe socialist. You just think itâs good. Neither of you seem to know what that word means.
Anyways, Iâd really like to see the scale that you use to say that Europe is more socialist or whatever than the USA.
Itâs like youâve never thought for more than 10 minutes about the nature of economic systems.
Thatâs socialism!
