The only real bank for doing real bank stuff (a opposed to something like lol Tangerine) I found where you can open an account without having to be in Canada to verify your identity is RBC.
Oh I never saw your question. HSBC is pretty shady so I’d have tried there, too.
Pretty sure it’s going to be proof of residency to open an account with any credit union. My plan is RBC for now, then credit union once I have an address there.

Let’s say this winter continues with the general plague trends we all expect. What is the likelihood a small pickup truck with Massachusetts plates gets vandalized in the city? Does on street vs off street parking matter? Downtown vs the Plateau vs somewhere like Cote des Neiges?

I think this idea of USA plates getting vandalized is super over blown. Easy fix is put an anti trump bumper or window sticker on your vehicle.
Wow how things have changed if American’s get treated like shit in Canada now. All the times I visited Canada in the past I couldn’t believe how nice everybody was to me. Seriously like the nicest fucking people in the world, especially Nova Scotians.
I’ve never heard of a vehicle getting vandalized or anyone being treated poorly. I’m sure it’s happened once or twice but it is certainly very uncommon.
