This seems like a weird thing to say. I mean, is it just a psychological reflex to convince yourself that you have some control or agency over the situation? If Steve recovers, are you going to take some of the credit for being so strong and forceful in your resolve? Also, who’s “them”? The doctors? LOL
It’s one thing to say “Pray for Steve” and whatever, but this seems like a whole deeper level of delusion.
Honestly, I think he genuinely believes the ventilators are killing patients. Then again I try not to waste too much time rationalising what someone who believes that material collected from nasal swabs and “south end swabs” used in COVID-19 testing are covert “genetic capture techniques” designed to create a bioweapon that could transform people into the undead thinks.
