Mary Lou Retton apparently fighting for her life due to a rare form of pneumonia.
Iâm really cynical for thinking this but is this some cover for getting COVID and being an antivaxxer?
I was also curious about her daughterâs claim that Mary Lou doesnât have health insurance. Why would a successful, late middle-aged woman not even have insurance through the government portal?
Itâs a bummer that she died, but it also makes me happy to see someone that old loving life until the very end. We should all be that fortunate.

The federation has had no shame, either. When the sex abuse bill was introduced, Penny and others from U.S.A. Gymnastics met with Feinstein about the federationâs sexual assault policies. How about this for a public-relations stunt: Tagging along was Mary Lou Retton, the smiling, bubbly sweetheart from the 1984 Games, as they said that the federationâs policies were solid and that gymnastics was a happy, safe place.

Would be much better story if she died during the jump (like not crashed but stroked out after the parachute deployed). Writers are getting lazy with an off-screen death.
