Bump This Thread When Jimmy Carter Outlives Someone Nonterrible

How many competitors? How long was the competition?

I think we were 11 people or something. The winner of a bunch of national championships were qualified, so one each from a bunch of countries. The Japanese guy and I were the two very high rated players on the online server that was available at the time (isotropic), so I knew he would be the main competition. Unfortunately he came out slightly ahead.

It was mostly a casual affair, the first time a world championships was held and it was mostly for fun. I don’t remember the details exactly, but we probably played seven 3-man games over the course of one day, something like that.

I assume he was not terrible

Had to Google to figure out where I knew him from but he played the dick boss in Elf

If you have not seen Barton Fink drop everything right now and go watch it! It’s fantastic. You would also recognize him immediately as the bad guy Bugsy Calhoun in Harlem Nights.

Harry Belafonte was a famous Black socialist civil rights figure. Of course the FBI was spying on him. No paranoia required for him to be expecting it.

My wife really doesn’t like “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”. It will be on a ton tomorrow.

This is a particularly sad one for my wife and me, he was one of our favourites. “Carefree Highway” is always the first song we play on extended road trips.

You haven’t really experienced Gordon Lightfoot until you have heard my friend Dan sing Gordon Lightfoot songs in the style of William Shatner. It really brings the poetry to life.
