Most prominent among them were former Homeland Security advisor Tom Bossert, Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration Scott Gottlieb, and Director for Medical and Biodefense Preparedness at the National Security Council Dr. Luciana Borio who beginning in early January used op-eds, television appearances, social media posts, and private entreaties to try to spur the administration into action.
I don’t think it would be the best interest for him to come out and say “hey theres this virus we don’t know anything about, but we’re all fucked and you should probably deeply worry.” There has to be some form of controlling panic, even though the MSM has been sure to make it a big of a hysteria as possible imo. I don’t know about you personally, but a lot of folks don’t trust the media, and for good reason imo.
Why would it be reasonable to think 15-to-0 was even a possibility? China was shutting down cities of 10+ million people because of Covid. What do you think Trump could have possibly been told to think we had some way of stopping it that the Chinese didn’t? We already knew that it could spread without symptoms, so why even think the initial number 15 was accurate?
Your “evidence he knew better” question leads me to a larger point: How trustworthy do you think Trump is? Some media group (NYT, WP?) tracks Trump’s lies and probably by now has him at the 15,000 mark for blatant lies or extremely misleading statements since inauguration. What would you put that number at?
Edit: you can ignore my questions… everyone is asking the same thing. I don’t type as fast as I used to.
Heritage not hate is typically used by Civil War apologists who want to minimize the role of slavery and racism as the major issue in forming the confederacy. I’m from the south also and like many things about it (food, music etc) but never get accused of hate because I don’t equate my heritage with nonsense like anti-American confederate terrorists and the KKK. It’s really easy to do if you just understand the history of your “heritage” from the south that you claim to love. The fact that you seem so sensitive to accusations of hate lead me to believe you only have a very superficial understanding of the American South.
It should be considered that states have to repeatedly tell people to stay home (as they seem to not want to do it or don’t care to the point of gov’t intervention.) Also - I’ll assume you’ve been following this quite closely and are well aware of the toilet paper shortage. In the event the president (or anyone for that matter) made the statement of “Listen, we’re all fucked unless you stay home for weeks” or any variation of - people would (rightfully so) panic, and empty grocery stores beyond measure and potentially obliterate any chance of recovering. This poses a much, much bigger threat as far as a death rate imo. I would think a majority of people have not considered even the realm of a possibility of not being able to get food etc on a day to day basis. I’d like you to consider how people act for black friday deals and apply that to food in this case. I’ll ask you this as well, where do you draw the line of what you believe trump says? Since he lies about everything, did you take action and stay home all that time?
Its weird you bring that up - I don’t get accused of hate either, except by leftists pushing narratives about how I must hate folks because I love the south. I don’t equate my heritage to the KKK or anything else along those lines.
