Britney - I'm a Slave 4 U

I am curious …

Was Britney’s June court statement the 1st time you became aware of this issue (her conservatorship)?
  • Yes

I previously asked in this forum months ago what the #freebritnay hastag was and the post got no reply unfortunately.

I saw a mediocre Netflix movie called I Care A Lot where a sociopathic professional guardian works in cahoots with doctors and care home staff to have rich competent old people declared incompetent so she can steal all their shit.

Not that great overall but the first half where they set up the scam really makes your blood boil because you just know this shit happens for real all the time.

Plus Peter Dinklage as a Russian mobster.

Hey statement wasn’t the first time I heard about it, but the #freebrittany hashtag actually did make me aware of it.

Wonder how many spellings of Britney are used in this thread.

I voted yes even though I was vaguely familiar about something going on though not to the extent of it. I figured that if someone could have a long standing show in Vegas they would be competent enough to have control over their own finances/life. Was kinda shocked about all the details of the whole situation after fully learning about it.

I only heard about this situation after a recent episode of On The Media talked about it, I don’t really follow celebrity news much.

This describes me as well.

Bingo for me as well

This thread was the first I heard of it. Hadn’t encountered the hashtag either.

I was vaguely familiar with the story from partially watching a LIFETIME (!) movie that I picked up channel surfing a few years ago. My recollection of it is that her character seemed borderline psychotic with tons of shadeballs trying to control her, so I assumed it was mostly hyperbolized fiction. Did not register that she was being held hostage under a guardianship if it was even presented that way, but it’s a lot to take in at once coming from the angle of knowing Britney Spears as simply a pop singer.

I was vaguely aware, but didn’t really get tuned in to the story, until a Hulu documentary earlier this year called Framing Britney Spears. A lot of the central players didn’t give interviews, so it was a little murky/unfulfilling as a narrative, but it definitely made me evaluate both her past and present differently.

Also assumed that she was mostly “fine” after seeing the quality of the Vegas shows and assumed that the crazy stuff was something from years past that she found her way out of, so I never gave it another thought really until this very recent buzz about Framing Britney Spears.

Lawyers!

Ah yes the white people who will suffer no consequences at all and keep the money they stole.

Oh good. I figure she’s only $5-$10 million away from maybe not being under the thumb of her dad.

Remember while she gets a 400k living expense allowance each month they keep running up the tens of millions of other expenses to “help” her.
