Biden thread III: Still Robinette after all these years

What does this look like to you

My fear is that Trump will green-light Israel to get even more aggressive. That results in more intense protests. Trump calls out the military. Protesters get killed. Trump stops aid to Ukraine, allowing Russia to win the war. Trump leaves NATO and announces a new alliance with Russia. Tariffs make inflation worse, not better. The economy starts to slow in a more meaningful way as people stop spending. Unemployment shoots up. Trump trashes Obamacare, causing a health care crisis. Unlike last time, if Trump wins, heā€™ll be entering office with some serious problems waiting for him. Heā€™s the last person I want trying to solve serious problems. We all saw how he did with Covid.

Donā€™t forget he gets the courts to agree to delay the next election due to some obscure reading of the constitution because the US is at war due to immigration so he becomes an unelected dictator.

Thanks for the summary

If this is true then Kamala ran a miracle campaign.

Thatā€™s not really something that necessarily follows when ppl have such a combo of hatred and belief of incapacitation of the incumbent

Also fake AF. Red NY? LOL. Come, on.

Iā€™m pretty sure I wouldnā€™t have voted Biden because his actions were infuriating to me and my vote didnā€™t matter in a safe blue area anyway. So plausible to me that Trump would have won places like NJ where he surprisingly got within striking distance.

I knew it was coming and still clicked.

What about Swalwell? Good looking white man. Pretty smart and well spoken too, not the most qualified, but might win the vote the Dems are looking for.

I dont think the candidate really matters, there are 7 states that actually matter for winning elections and most of them are in the South/Midwest and have a huge chunk of people who will paint anyone from California as a coastal elite and refuse to vote for them, unless of course its a Republican like Reagan or Trump in which case they are fine voting for. I just think there is very little upside for Democrats to do this.

Right now my vibes are with Newsome. Feels like any permanent progress on societyā€™s issues needs to be preceded by something like denazification of the influence of pro-facist, white nationalist propaganda. That most evil parts are way too mainstream to be working on a basis of bigger tent and incremental compromise

I think young (under 55), white, straight guy is the way to go. Bonus pts if good looking and from a swing state. All the other stuff is relatively small rocks. Sure such a person could fuck it up by doing crazy shit, but that guy with even a vanilla campaign does well.

The notion that we need to only run straight white men is an extremely bad one. Not only does it foreclose most of the good candidates, but also the notion that swing voters are hopelessly sexist and racist is the exactly the kind of toxic meme that alienates many of the voters youā€™re trying to attract.

Only sem-trolling thought: do we owe 90ā€™s Dems an apology? We all shit on them for triangulating to the right after getting demolished by Reagan, but it seems like after getting crushed by Trump thereā€™s a poular sentiment that Dems need to rein it in, only run white men, stop talking about LGBT stuff, become podcast bros, etc. Just generally they need to be more like Republicans?

You donā€™t actually say that part out loud.
